Matt Reeves has made some brilliant films in his career but his Planet of the Apes duology still remains his best work to date. Not only are they his personal best but they are also the very best Planet of the Apes films ever made. War for the Planet of the Apes especially took the series to new heights both visually and emotionally and ever since then fans have been rooting for more. Well, their prayers have been answered as a sequel Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is all set to arrive next year, however, it sadly won’t be directed by Matt Reeves. Anyways, here’s absolutely everything you need to know about it.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Trailer and Release Date
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been directed by Wes Ball with a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. The film has been produced by Joe Hartwick Jr., Jaffa, Silver, and Jason Reed and will be distributed by 20th Century Studios. It is intended to be the sequel to War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) and the official fourth instalment in the reboot series. The film will star Owen Teague in the lead role as Caesar’s son, alongside Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, and Kevin Durand.
The film was confirmed back in 2019 and 2020 it was confirmed to be a sequel which will dwell into Caesar’s legacy. It was in September 2022, that the film’s official title was revealed to be Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Shortly after, the production began in October 2022 at Disney Studios Australia in Sydney under the working title Forbidden Zone. Filming concluded on February 15, 2023 and so far we have only received one first look poster of the film. The first trailer is expected to arrive by fall 2023. It is possible we might see the first trailer as early as October 2023 during New York Comic Con. Since the film is all set to release on May 24, 2024, it is about time we saw a teaser!
Planet of the Apes 4 Cast and Plot
The official premise for Planet of the Apes 4 reads as follows . Years after the events of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), many ape clans have emerged in the oasis to which Caesar led his fellow apes, while humans have regressed into a feral state. One ape leader perverts the teachings of Caesar to enslave other clans in search of the last traces of a secret human technology, while another ape embarks on a journey to find freedom side by side with a human girl.
Last year, it was reported that Disney and 20th Century Studios were quite pleased with the film’s script and hoped that it would launch a new trilogy of Planet of the Apes instalments. The principle cinematography of the film has been done by Gyula Pados but the details about the composer haven’t been made public yet. Planet of the Apes 4 has the following cast:
