Sony is to the gaming industry what Disney is to the Cinema industry. Not only is Sony’s PlayStation series the biggest in console market, Sony’s original games are some of the best games ever made with loads of Game Awards titles to their names. One of the most popular studio attached to PlayStation Studios is Insomniac Games Inc, who are the developers behind Ratchet and Clank series as well as the highly acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man series. The third game in Spider-Man series Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is all set to release in October. But today, we are going to talk about their next highly anticipated game Marvel’s Wolverine.
Marvel’s Wolverine Gets A Major Update from Spider-Man 2 Dev!
Wolverine is one such Marvel character who hasn’t had a good gaming run. While there have been a few Wolverine games over the years, they haven’t been particularly good and even so, the last one came out in 2009. Since then, we’ve seen the character only once as a side character in 2022’s Marvel’s Midnight Suns. So, in this modern era of gaming, it is about time we see a dedicated Wolverine game. As it happens, Insomniac has been working on Marvel’s Wolverine for a year or so now and it’s first teaser debuted back in 2021’s PlayStation Showcase. Since then we’ve heard absolutely nothing about the game but now that has changed.
With the production on Spider-Man 2 now wrapped up, Insomniac would now be focusing on Marvel’s Wolverine. This has just now been confirmed by Tommy Mann, one of the developers working on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his delight working on the project and then hyping fans up by revealing his next project to be Wolverine.

Marvel’s Wolverine could be counted as a spin-off to Spider-Man series but will be a standalone game set in the same universe. The game will center around James Howlett aka Logan, staying true to what made the Marvel Comics character a favorite amongst fans. Accordingly to Ryan Schneider, it shall be a standalone game in which ‘cutting-edge’ gameplay is featured, alongside an emotional narrative. It is also being speculated that the game would most likely be rated PEGI 18 for excessive violence, bloodshed, and strong language, which means fans might be able to play as a Wolverine they always wanted to see.
From what we saw in the trailer, Marvel’s Wolverine would most likely have a western setting as Logan was seen wearing a hat in a bar with country music playing in the background. Also, we see Logan’s Adamantium claws, which means that the game might not be a classic origin story. Aside from this, not much is known about the game at the given point of time. Marvel’s Wolverine currently holds no estimated release date, but is expected to come out sometime in late 2024 exclusively for PS5.
