Henry Cavill of Rivia
Henry Cavill is most popular for his role of DC’s iconic superhero Man of Steel, but he has also made a great impact with the Witcher series. As you may know, Henry Cavill portrays the Witcher called Geralt of Rivia, who is a mutant made to kill monsters. Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher novel series acts as the source material for the series as well as the games.
Many of you might also be aware that Henry Cavill is a huge fan of the Witcher universe and has played the games multiple times. Even during the lockdown, he spent his time playing Witcher 3 on Deathmarch difficulty. Due to his commitment and hard work, he now portrays Geralt of Rivia on screen which is a dream come true for any fan.
Due to his Fandom, he is made an even deeper commitment to the role. Cavill said that he’s committed to showrunner Lauren Hissrich’s seven-year plan for The Witcher. This means that Netflix and Hissrich want to finish telling the tale of The Witcher, which means at least 5 more seasons. Recent reports also claim that Henry Cavill is being paid pretty well for his role and it is clear that Netflix is confident with the Witcher series.
“Absolutely, as long as we can keep telling great stories which honor [author Andrzej] Sapkowski’s work,” said Cavill when asked if he’ll continue the portrayal.
The Witcher Future Seasons
Witcher season 2 is all set to release on Netflix on 17th December 2021, and most the surviving cast will be returning. Season 1 had stories from The Last Wish and Swords of Destiny. Season 2 is supposed to introduce the fans to the main saga i.e. The Blood of Elves which will kick off the main narrative of the series.
After Blood of Elves, there are 4 main books in the series which will span across 5 seasons. But that is not it because if the series is a hit throughout, then who knows, Netflix may even extend it. As you may know the games are a sequel to the books, so the Witcher series has more stories to tell. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves and focus on what’s confirmed.

This season will introduce some prominent characters from the series including Eskel, Lambert, and Vesemir. Also, as seen in the trailer, it has received a huge CGI and VFX buff, so it’s shaping up to be a great season. Apart form this, a prequel series called The Witcher: Blood Origin has also been confirmed which is set 1200 years before the current narrative.
