NYCC 2023 Day 2 to Day 4

NYCC 2023 was all about big events, huge panels, and massive news. The event got the live audience way more excited about the upcoming releases by revealing first looks, a few minutes of a show, and major news. If you think you’ve missed out on any announcements, don’t worry we are here to help you out. Here we have listed everything announced from Day 2 to Day 4.

TV

  • On Thursday, we got our first look at Orphan Black: Echoes featuring Krysten Ritter. It is scheduled to be released in 2024.
  • We also got glimpses at the Interview with the Vampire Season 2.
  • On Friday, Godzilla came to NYCC 2023 as Apple TV+ debuted Monarch: Legacy of Monsters‘ first episode a month early for all the viewers in the room.
  • Horror network Shudder came to celebrate the Halloween season.
  • Fans witnessed the opening seven minutes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and the live streamers got to see the first looks of the central cast in their character. Rick Riordan and his wife Becky showed up on stage and thanked fans for their constant support.

Comics

  • Geoff Johns and friends have formed a new imprint from Image Comics known as Ghost Machine.
  • Miss Minutes might move from the screen to the page if a tease from Marvel’s editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski pans out.
  • ComiXology Originals series The All-Nighter is returning for its third and final season launching at the end of October. Series artist and co-creator Jason Loo said, “Expect tons of MONSTER MAYHEM in this final volume!”
  • Former Marvel mainstay Jason Aaron is taking over DC flagship Action Comics for three months to launch a round-Robin era. He will be followed by current Superman writer Joshua Williamson for a crossover bringing Brainiac back on stage.
  • 2000 AD is collecting some of the best work the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic ran by the late Steve Dillon in a deluxe format edition.
  • There’s also going to be the first Ultimate Black Panther series. From Marvel’s announcement: “THE NEW ULTIMATE BLACK PANTHER! In the wake of ULTIMATE INVASION, Khonshu and Ra – the force known together as Moon Knight – are seeking to expand their brutal control of the continent of Africa. In response, the lone bulwark against them, the isolated nation of Wakanda, will send forth its champion…its king…the Black Panther! From the creative minds of Bryan Hill (BLADE, KILLMONGER) and Stefano Caselli (X-MEN RED, AVENGERS) comes a bold new take on the world of Black Panther and Wakanda!”
  • Unexpectedly, a pet-themed called Infinity Paws is coming to Marvel Unlimited in 2024.
  • Peach Momoko will be the creative force behind the new Ultimate X-Men series.

  • As Blood Hunt commences, Marvel’s spring 2024 crossover asks the comic readers “Who Will Bite It?”
  • Jason Todd will live again as DC plans to reprint Batman #428, the issue that killed Robin.
  • Image Comics imprint Giant Generator has signed 12 former DC and Marvel creators to create all new work they will own.
  • Lore Olympus is returning in November as Rachel Smythe heads towards the conclusion of the series.

  • John Constantine, Hellblazer might be dead however, he is getting a new series from Si Spurrier and Aaron Campbell. Spurrier said, “Hellblazer is back. Between 2019 and 2021, Aaron Campbell and I chronicled John Constantine’s sly progress through London. For 13 issues, the book dripped with heart and hate and rage — rage at the state of the world, rage at the state of our minds and lives. Those 13 issues were our poisonous love letter to the Constantines of the past — [Alan] Moore’s, [Jamie] Delano’s, [Garth] Ennis’s. It was the best work we’ve ever done. And then it stopped. On a note of death and despair, with — like all magic — a heavy price levied. And now it’s back. Because the cost doesn’t count if we don’t get to see it being paid. Because even dead things can make a difference.”

Movies

  • Five Nights At Freddy’s director Emma Tammi teased the fans regarding an unrevealed character. “There’s one character that we have not yet revealed in any of the teasers or trailers. So that’s something to look forward to.” Fan theories already point to The Marionette, The Puppet, or Balloon Boy, with several fans guessing the reveal could come in a post-credits tease for Five Nights at Freddy 2.
  • When asked what would it take for King of Monsters, John Carpenter to make a Godzilla movie, the filmmaker answered, “And offer.”
  • Matthew Vaughn revealed a few news at his panel, including a third Kingsman movie and a reboot of Kick-Ass, both being shot in 2024. “Kick-Ass kind of changed people’s perception of what a superhero film is, at that time, so we’re doing it again. It’s none of the characters from the other [Kick-Ass]]; we’d like to bring them back after the reboot, but this reboot is going off on a tangent I really can’t talk about now,” he teased.

Games

Matthew Mercer has got his dream job as Vincent Valentine was cast for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Technically, Mercer was in the franchise previously, voicing various NPCs, but a comeback as Vincent Valentine sent the live audience into an uproar. Mercer has a wide range of voice acting credits including Attack on Titan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
