Only Murders in the Building is a comedy mystery series created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman which came out in 2021. Its plot follows three strangers who become friends while investigating suspicious deaths in their affluent Upper West Side apartment building. The show boasts a stellar cast ensemble and even starred the living legend Meryl Streep as one of the guest actors. Its 10-episode season 3 debuted in August 2023 and just ended with its final episode last week. But fans being fans, always want more and for them, we present all we know about season 4 so far.
Only Murders In the Building Season 4 Confirmed by Hulu
Only Murders in the Building Season 3 went out with a bang as well as a massive cliff-hanger. Therefore, another season was never in question and Hulu didn’t take much time to announce it as well. Just a day after season 3 ended, Hulu confirmed Only Murders in the Building season 4 via their official Twitter account alongside an image of our three leads and the logo for season 4.

As for the release date, Only Murders in the Building has been really consistent with its release, airing a new season during the same time frame every year since 2021. The first season was released in August 2021, the second in July 2022, and the third came out in August 2023, so it’s highly likely season 4 will also release within a year most likely July-Aug 2024. As for the episode count, it has also been consistent that ways, delivering 10 episodes each and we expect the same from season 4 s well. Only hinderance that may cause delays in release would be if SAG-AFTRA strikes extend to next year. They most likely won’t but we’ll have to wait and watch.
Season 4 Plot and Cast
Season 3 finally resolved the mystery around murder of Paul Rudd’s Ben Glenroy but the finale also ended with the shocking death of Sazz (Charles’ stunt double). Talking about season 4, creator John Hoffman said, “I think the idea of what you create is a thing you put out to the world, and sometimes you can’t be prepared for the repercussions of what potentially the world does with your thing, and how they feel about it.” He went to explain, “Let’s see! I’ve got big hopes in that way, to shake up the look, but it has to be driven by the story. You’re right in that there are a lot of tee-ups at the end of Season 3, and a lot of connections and relationships that have extended.”
As for the cast of the series, the poster revealed the main cast aka the trio will surely return. It’s also likely that fans will see these popular cast members in the mix however there are certain characters who surely won’t return. These include Jane Lynch won’t be back since her character was killed off and same goes for Linda Emond (Donna), Wesley Taylor (Clifford), and Paul Rudd (Ben).
