Red Dead Redemption, the 2010 game which is a fan favourite is in the news again. An action-adventure game has 1911 frontier America as the backdrop. John Marston is forced to go back to his old days as an outlaw when his wife and son are taken hostage and he has to do something to gain them back. He employs his former gang member colleagues who then embark on the journey to get back his family. Developed by Rockstar San Diego, the game is a sequel to the Red Dead Revolver game from 2004.
Red Dead Redemption PC Port Update
A lot of fans, over time, have expressed chagrin at the fact that the game was never available on PC – in spite of the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 is available. Initially the game was released on Playstation 3 and Xbox 306 in 2010. In August 2023, the game was made available on Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4. There had been some speculation among fans that there would be a re-release of the game because of Take Two and Rockstar’s announcement of the game’s re-release on Switch and PS4.
CEO Strauss Zelnick of Take Two Interactive shared with IGN when asked about the prospect of a possible launch on PC that is solely a decision that would be based on Rockstar’s creative team. “It depends on the vision that the creative teams have for a title, and in the absence of having a powerful vision, for something that we would do with a title, we might bring it in its original form, we’ve done that, and in certain instances we might remaster or remake, so it really depends on the title and how the label feels about it, the platform, and what we think the opportunity is for consumers,” said Zelnick.
Now the probability of this creative decision being in favor of people who want the PC port is 50-50. We also have to see how the port is priced, because they have already priced the Switch and PS4 ports at 50$, which has left many of the fans divided regarding the same. We can only wait and watch to find out.
