The 1990s are calling, but they are using a TikTok filter this time. Fox is officially bringing back Baywatch for the 2026-2027 season, and the cast list looks like a fever dream of millennial nostalgia and Gen Z influence. Forget the slow-motion runs of the past for a second, because the new squad is trading law degrees and Olympic medals for lifebuoys.
Meet the New Guardians of the Sand

Leading the charge is Stephen Amell, known for his brooding bow-and-arrow days on Arrow. He steps into the role of Hobie Buchannon, the son of the legendary Mitch Buchannon. In this continuation of the original series, Hobie is no longer the “wild child” we remember. He is now the Baywatch Captain, desperately trying to keep the beach safe while dealing with a surprise arrival.
Jessica Belkin plays Charlie Vale, the daughter Hobie never knew he had. She shows up on his doorstep with a chip on her shoulder and a dream of becoming a lifeguard. It is basically Mamma Mia but with more sunscreen and fewer ABBA songs.
From Rosewood to the Red Trunks

Perhaps the biggest buzz surrounds Shay Mitchell. The Pretty Little Liars icon joins the team as Trina, a former high-powered lawyer who quits her firm to become a full-time lifeguard. Her character is described as the “sharpest mind on Baywatch,” which suggests she might be the only one actually reading the fine print on those beach permits. Mitchell was recently spotted filming in Los Angeles, proving the iconic red swimsuit still looks as good in 2026 as it did in 1989.
The Influencer Wave

Fox is clearly betting on social media clout to drive ratings. The cast includes TikTok sensation Noah Beck as Luke, a rookie from a family of firefighters who wants to blaze his own trail on the water. Joining him is Livvy Dunne, the gymnastics superstar, in a recurring role as a junior lifeguard.
If that is not enough star power for your feed, Brooks Nader stars as Selene, a sharp-tongued Zuma Beach captain who constantly clashes with Hobie. Hassie Harrison from Yellowstone also joins as Nat, a former Olympic prodigy who takes her job way too seriously.
A Dash of Nostalgia
While the new faces are grabbing headlines, the show is not forgetting its roots. David Chokachi is officially returning as Cody Madison. Instead of just being a senior lifeguard, Cody now runs The Shoreline, the local bar and grill where the team probably hangs out to discuss their dramatic life choices over free wings.
The series is produced by Fremantle and Fox, with the premiere episode directed by McG. Expect high-stakes rescues, sun-drenched drama, and a script that leans into the self-aware humor of a modern reboot. Production is already underway in Venice and Los Angeles, with a planned release for the second half of 2026. Grab your whistle, because the beach is open for business.
