SDCC 2022 - All the Trailers Likely To Be Revealed, Marvel, DC and More!

San Diego Comic Con might be the biggest fan event of the entire year. The fan event is finally coming back in its full glory almost after three years, thanks to the Covid-19 Pandemic. With the event returning, all studios have planned something huge for the fans as there is a lot of upcoming content coming out after the Comic Con. The fans attending this event will be the first ones to be privy to all the new footage, trailers, teasers, first looks, announcements, etc. for their favorite movies and TV shows. While we’d earlier covered specific production house’s plans for SDCC, in this article we’ll be solely concentrating on every trailer from major studios that has the possibility to revealed at SDCC. All the major reveals are slated to take place in Hall H, which is a massive structure and is rumored to have 6500 attendees this year.

Studios like Marvel, Warner Bros, Universal, Paramount, Sony, HBO and many other reputed studios are supposed to grace the event by their presence. Although, their presence is not the only thing they offer. They’re planning to make SDCC ’22 worth the fans money by showcasing many trailers that were under the wraps until now. Let’s take a look.

Marvel Studios at SDCC

Marvel Studios is no stranger to making big announcements at SDCC. In 2019, they had rolled out the entire list of Phase 4 & 5 movies and TV shows for the fans. That gave us an update regarding what to expect from the MCU after Avengers: Endgame. Having just released Thor: Love & Thunder, that leaves Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as the next film in Marvel’s slate. The film’s images and plot details have already started to leak online. Considering the film is supposed to release in November and it still doesn’t have a teaser seems weird.

Although it seems like Marvel has been saving it for the Comic Con. The Black Panther sequel is one of the few films that is guaranteed to reveal the trailer at SDCC. That brings us to Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania which has an early February release date, so this seems like the perfect time to drop a sweet teaser. The film had wrapped its production long back in November 2021, so if Marvel doesn’t reveal the teaser, I don’t know what is wrong with them. Speaking of wrapping productions…

James Gunn has wrapped up filming for Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I’m not expecting a full fledged teaser for this one but I’m sure they’re going to show the fans some footage from the upcoming Guardians projects. The last film on the list is The Marvels, and guess what is has wrapped filming as well. So expect a teaser for The Marvels as this seems a good time to showcase to do so given the hype created by Ms. Marvel’s finale.

Talking about Disney Plus shows, something from She-Hulk and Secret Invasion could be shown as they’re soon going to debut. This concludes the live-action section. The Animated side will be given attention as well. Animated shows like I Am Groot, Moon Girl, Devil Dinosaur are likely to give out some footage. Other animated titles may include Spider-Man: Freshman Year, X-Men ’97, and What If…? Season 2, as well as the spinoff, Marvel Zombies. Keep in mind not all these trailers/teasers will surface online.

Warner Bros. Studios and DCEU

Marvel’s biggest rivals both in theatres and at SDCC is Warner Bros’ DC. With Marvel bringing their A-game this year, Warner Bros. is pulling all the stops as well. Warner Bros. has been holding in a lot of things to exclusively reveal them at Comic Con. Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson is the most likely candidate to flaunt some new footage for us. Maybe a new trailer. Along with it Shazam! Fury of the Gods is also rumored to reveal its first teaser at SDCC.

Before the SDCC, Shazam! star Zachary Levi had teased fans of a teaser in a hilarious fashion but it seems like this time we’re going to get the real deal. Given the recent controversy surrounding Ezra Miller, I think its safe to assume Warner Bros. is not going to stir the pot by talking about The Flash at SDCC. If they choose to do so, we might get some new footage from that as well. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom too doesn’t plan on giving us a teaser, but some new footage is expected.

Apart from this, WB may also reveal footage for Batgirl and Blue Beetle. It maybe a first-look and short teaser. Although, for now nothing is guaranteed.

Amazon Prime Videos Studios at SDCC

Amazon Prime has planned a huge 90 minute panel planned for Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series that is supposed to take place before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s books. The entire ensemble cast of the show will make an appearance at SDCC along with the showrunners as well. This means a trailer is just the minimum expectation. With almost everyone from the show making an appearance it is a real possibility that Prime will surprise us and show the first 15 minutes of Episode 1 or rather the entire 1st Episode at SDCC. It is possible given its a 90 minute panel

Paramount Pictures at SDCC

Paramount Pictures don’t possess Superhero entities. So, Paramount Pictures are rumored to reveal the teaser for their latest adaptation of the RPG game Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The film stars Chris Pine, Sophia Lillis, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, and Hugh Grant, from directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.

MTV’s Teen Wolf: The Movie also has a panel. The film is based on Teen Wolf series created by Jeff Davis. The movie will expand on the adventures of Teen Wolf. The panel is only about an hour so we can certainly expect a trailer but nothing more than that. Maybe a featurette or retrospective video could be shown as well.

HBO Studios

HBO is one of the best TV shows network ever. It truly has some of the best shows in the world that live on with us. Sometimes because of their quality or because of their terrible endings. Sorry couldn’t resist. HBO’s next big venture is actually a part of a show they’d previously tasted great success in. The prequel to the biggest show in the world- Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon. Along with Lord of the Rings this is another big-budget fantasy show to debut this year.

HBO has planned a full panel with George R.R. Martin, the author of the books, making an appearance. The show’s main cast will also be appearing at the event- Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and more. Considering this there is no doubt a full trailer is about to be revealed for the House of the Dragon. The prequel is going on floors on the network next month so this is a good time to elevate the hype.

I don’t think an entire episode of the show will be played like the Lord of the Rings but a potential preview or the first 15 minutes is on the cards. Plus we can also expect a much needed update on the status of all the Game of Thrones Spin-Offs. This is definitely one of the panels I’m excited about.

What do you think about the likelihood of these trailers being revealed? Are you excited for SDCC?
