The fifth and final season of the The Last Kingdom delivered its promise and presented one of the finest final seasons of any show ever. And I am not saying this as just a fan of the show, but also as an ardent admirer of the dark period/fantasy dramas. What Will 7 Kings Must Die Be About – Plot?
It was earlier speculated that the film would be a standalone one which will act as an epilogue rather than a continuation. The Last Kingdom season 5 effectively ended the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg as his arc concludes quite satisfyingly. So, technically, 7 Kings Must Die should have followed the story of the next generation that includes Athelstan and Uhtred’s children as they would have once again battled it out. After all, Alfred’s dream of a united England wasn’t achieved at the end of The Last Kingdom season 5 as Uhtred decided to make his kingdom independent. So, at the moment neither Edward nor the King of Scotland have any right to Bebbanburg. However, from the trailer, it is quite clear that Uhtred and his friends still have a lot of role to play in the film and he might once again find himself battling for Alfred’s dream of England. Anyways, the movie will ultimately end with the formation of England under the rule of Athelstan who will succeed Edward.

Yes, he is! The good news is that it was confirmed that Alexander Dreymon will reprise his role as Uhtred of Bebbanburg one last time in Seven Kings Must Die.
