Netflix’s coming of age show – Sex Education, has become quite a sensation. The show has completed three seasons in late 2021 after being delayed for a long time because of the pandemic. The show focuses on Moordale Secondary School charting the personal adventures and sexual exploits of its students, teachers, and parents. The series is lauded for handling sensitive issues in such a mature, sensitive and entertaining way. Sex Education has garnered one of the most loyal fan bases making its viewership fly off the chart. Considering how Season 3 ended, everyone was super excited for Season 4 as it also might be the last for the show.
Season 3’s finale saw Moordale being shut down given all the controversy that has been happening there. This was huge as without Moordale Sex Education would never be the same show. The school connected every character in the show but now that the school is closed all the characters would be opting for a new school. While many suspected that in Season 4 this decision would be reversed it doesn’t look like as many cast members are not returning for Season 4 like Simone Ashely, Patricia Allison, Tanya Reynolds, and Rakhee Thakrar. This means when Sex Education would return for its potential final season it would be a completely different show. Today’s news seconds this assumption as Schitt’s Creek star and showrunner Dan Levy has just joined the cast.
Sex Education Season 4 – Dan Levy will be playing which Character?
The Schitt’s Creek star will join Sex Education Season 4 as Thomas Molloy, a cult teacher at Wallace University in the US. Maeve took off to the US last season and she’ll tutored there by Thomas. Along with this, The Hollywood Reporter shared first images from the production of the series. The first image is of Otis and Ruby on his couch, the context of this image is a bit confusing as the last we saw Ruby was mad at him. Have they reconciled? We know they won’t be dating as Otis and Maeve will long distancing it, I assume.
The second image is of Thomas and Maeve in the Wallace University. The setting looks like his office. As Maeve will tutored by him it makes for her to be there. There is a huge American flag in the image as well, so as to remind viewers how far she is from home. Maeve has gone back to her “maevish” attire. Goth like clothes but this time she doesn’t have colored hair, interesting. As soon as she was out of the clutches of Moordale, it looks like she has gone back to be Maeve once again. The third and final image is Levy giving his model pose in his office.
His Sex Education attire reeks of professor vibes. It feels a bit odd to see him in this character after seeing him in Schitt’s Creek. He is in a completely different shade here. Levy’s addition to the Netflix show makes sense as he had recently signed a deal with Netflix for creating and starring in multiple shows and films developed by the streaming giant. Netflix is clearly very proud of there collaboration with the actor/director/creator. Levy’s addition to the show will certainly uplift the already top-notch quality of the show. They had promised us a different season and by the looks of it they’re delivering it.
Here are the images shared by The Hollywood Reporter:
Sex Education stars an amazing cast including Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Gillian Anderson, Mimi Keene, Tanya Reynolds, Connor Swindells, Jemima Kirke, Patricia Allison, Simone Ashley, Sami Outalbali, Rakhee Thakrar, George Robinson, Alistair Petrie, Hannah Waddingham, Dua Saleh and now Dan Levy.
All three seasons of Sex Education are currently streaming on Netflix. Sex Education Season 4 doesn’t have a release date yet.
