She Said First Trailer For The Carey Mulligan And Zoe Kazan Starrer Released

The first trailer for She Said, the drama starring Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan and based on the 2017 exposé by New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey outing Harvey Weinstein’s decades-long sexual assault, has been dropped by Universal Pictures. The duo, who won a Pulitzer prize (along with Ronan Farrow of The New Yorker) for the best-selling memoir She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement that questioned the sexual predation by the formerly untouchable film producer, were instrumental in igniting the #MeToo movement and numerous consequent inquiries into abuses of power. Check out the trailer below.

She Said Dives Into The Investigation That Exposed Harvey Weinstein

The movie, from Unorthodox director Maria Schrader and adapted for the screen by Rebecca Lenkiewicz of Ida and Colette fame, presents the months-long investigation by Kantor (Kazan) and Twohey (Mulligan), who “together broke one of the most important stories in a generation.” According to the official synopsis by Universal Pictures, the film narrates “a story that helped propel the #MeToo movement, shattered decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault in Hollywood and altered American culture forever”.

Weinstein was given a 23-year prison term for third-degree rape, and sexual assault charges nearly two years after the series of articles in the Times and The New Yorker were released. He will also be facing trial on 11 additional charges.

The trailer shows Kantor’s entry into the story for the first time, her collaboration with Twohey, and the reporters’ efforts to break the silence around Weinstein’s victims, many of whom were constrained by NDAs to remain silent about their experiences.

She Said also stars Patricia Clarkson, Andre Braugher, Samantha Morton, Tom Pelphrey and Adam Shapiro. Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner produced the film, while Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle served as executive producers

She Said will be released in theatres on November 18.
