Spider-Man 4

The long awaited Spider-Man debut in the MCU finally happened in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War after which Marvel began their own trilogy for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Sony was of course okay with it because of the brilliant deal that Marvel had cracked with them. The first movie Homecoming is one of my least favorite Spider-Man movies simply because of how boring it is, despite having RDJ’s Iron Man in it. I liked the Vulture twist of the movie but other than that it was pretty bland. The second movie in the franchise, Far From Home was awesome. It was not boring, it had a good, charismatic villain and overall it was just a fun time. It happens to be my favorite Tom Holland film. The latest and final film, No Way Home was bad. I know a lot of you guys won’t agree with me.

However, just understand that the film only had fan service and little on plot. The character choices didn’t make sense. The entire villain redemption program seemed pointless and it was lengthy for no reason. It is the worst film from the franchise. Although, No Way Home won’t be the last Spider-Man film we see in the MCU, there are many more to come. When? Well, isn’t that the question. It has been almost two years after Spider-Man: No Way Home and we have no update on the next one. It was not even mentioned in the Marvel slate. Well, thankfully Kevin Feigi was kind of enough to give an update.

Spider-Man 4 Is Happening!

We don’t have a lot of details about the plot of Spider-Man 4 as Marvel have done a good job of keeping everything under wraps. All we know is that the scale and tone of the movie will be more grounded as Kevin Feigi had teased in the past that the web slinger is part of the street level storyline that Marvel will follow in their upcoming phases. He’d said, “[ Spider-Man is] going into the street-level heroes.” While promoting MCU’s latest flick Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Kevin Feigi spoke with Entertainment Weekly.

The Marvel executive was asked about lack of updates about the new Spider-Man movie and he didn’t say a lot but said enough for us to get an idea where the film is. Feigi stated, “All I will say is that we have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now.” If they have the story and the scripting process is going on then we can expect the new Spider-Man film to be part of Marvel’s Phase 6 and come out sometime around late 2025.

This estimate is based on the time taken by Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home from their pre-production to release dates, which was exactly two years. So there is no reason not to suspect that Spider-Man 4 would follow the same and come out in 2025.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently streaming on Netflix. Spider-Man 4 doesn’t have a release date at the time of writing.
