Last week a new report revealed that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, one of the highest grossing films of the year and also an Academy Awards favorite will be available for purchase on Blu Ray 4k, and DVD form on September 5, equating to 95 days after its theatrical release on June 2. Across the Spider-Verse has become the highest grossing comic book film at the domestic box office of the year ($663.5 million). The sequel will also be available on Netflix soon. Sony has a relatively new streaming deal, where in essence, its films head to Netflix for the first 18 months, then leave that streamer to be available on Disney+. However, we didn’t get any concrete dates. Although, today we have found out about the sequel’s online release.
You Now Can Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse At Home!
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be officially available to pre-order on Amazon Video with an online release date set for Tuesday, August 8. This means the sequel will gets its online release 67 days after its theatrical debut. As I mentioned above, the physical copies of the film will go on sale a few weeks after. So, it looks like August will begin brilliantly for all the Spidey fans. For comparison, Sony Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was available to watch digitally on February 26, 2019, 74 days after it hit theaters.
The sequel stars Oscar Isaac, Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson and Issa Rae in prominent roles. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently playing in theatres near you.
