Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Release Date, Cast, All We Know

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is on the way, offering fans another Multiversal adventure alongside MCU’s Spider-cast. After Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse, Beyond the Spider-Verse is set to have its theatrical release soon, closing out the animated trilogy. Originally titled Across the Spider-Verse Part 2, the upcoming third film has been defined as the Avengers: Endgame of this anime world, following up directly from Across the Spider-Verse’s surprising ending. Here’s everything we know about Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Cast and Plot of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Since Beyond the Verse will likely serve as a second part of the Across the Spider-Verse story, fans can expect the previous film’s cast to return. The expected cast includes:

  • Shamiek Moore as Miles Morales
  • Jake Johnson as Peter Parker
  • Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy
  • Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara
  • Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk
  • John Mulaney as Spider-Ham
  • Karan Soni as Spider-Man India
  • Jason Schwartzman as The Spot
  • Andy Samberg as Ben Reilly
  • Issa Rae as Spider-Woman
  • Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis
  • Lunas Lauren Velez as Rio Morales
  • Greta Lee as Lyla
  • Jharrel Jerome as Miles G. Morales

Rumors have hinted at Tom Holland’s appearance in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, creatives have remained quiet about the subject.

One of the many narratives Beyond the Spider-Verse will likely deal with is Shamiek Moore’s Miles Morales trying to get back to his universe after being stranded in a dark alternative reality at the end of Across the Spider-Verse. As a part of this alternate reality, fans know the character took a villainous turn. The end of Across the Spider-Verse saw a team being put together by Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen to hopefully get Miles back to his reality.

Beyond the Spider-Verse will possibly explore the idea of Canon Events. Oscar Isaac’s Miguel disclosed to Miles that since he is now on the wall-crawling path, certain Canon Evens are likely to happen. This would include the demise of someone close to him such as his father Jefferson Davis. All this will happen alongside the ongoing dispute between Miles and The Spot, along with his recurrent dodging of Miguel and the Spider-Society.

When Will It Come Out?

While originally slated to be out on March 29, 2024, Beyond the Spider-Verse has since been delayed indefinitely. Though we know it will be out sometime in 2024, there is no confirmed date. Given that the production cannot continue until the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved, fans can expect the potential release to get pushed further and further out.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will possibly be the last in the animated franchise. According to Phil Lord, “It is the end of Miles Morales’ trilogy and so this whole thing is like working towards that but this has its complete film with a beginning, middle, and end and Miles starts in one place and ends in another and all the characters have their arc in this film but that’s it for us. We’re so tired.”

Sony Pictures producer Amy Pascal was asked about some projects including the Miles movie. Though she remained quiet on the subject but let slip, “I cannot tell you yet, but it’s coming.” This came sometime after Pascal teased that fans would “have to wait a couple of years” for a live-action Miles. It would be quite some time after Beyond the Spider-Verse before fans witness the character on-screen again.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse currently has no announced release date.
