The brainchild of George Lucas seems to get only bigger and bigger – Star Wars. The Dune inspired franchise that started out late in 1970s has become one of the biggest franchises ever. While most fans still believe the franchise was at its peak in the days of the Original Trilogy, including me. There is some argument that the Sequel Trilogy has its own merit. Although, I don’t think anyone’s going to make an argument for the Prequel Trilogy. If you want to, make it in the comments section. However, I think it is fair to say that Sequel Trilogy crashed its landing with Rise of the Skywalker. Although, after that debacle Star Wars turned to Disney+ as its new home to create more content and dive deep into the various worlds myth of Star Wars. Their first show was created by Jon Favreau was The Mandalorian.
Apart from the mainstream films in the various trilogies, there have been other spinoff films like Solo. However, it seems like with the two seasons of The Mandalorian seems to have rejuvenated the quality of Star Wars. With many joining the Star Wars universe merely because of Mandalorian. The show has amassed quite the fan following. Considering the success of one show Disney was quick to produce multiple projects into motion. Like The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Talking about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew we have an update on that show.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Begins filming in Manhattan?
The above image is actually a still from Captain Marvel where the English Actor played Yon-Rogg. However, the image appears to have complemented as both Captain Marvel and Skeleton Crew are set in space. Star Wars: Skeleton will have Jude Law and the filming for the same has started in Manhattan Beach Studios where other Star Wars titles like The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi was filmed as well. Although, there are other locations fixed for Skeleton Crew
One being Culver City and the other is California State University. The show will be shaped by the MCU fame, who has been responsible for giving us three Spider-Man films- Jon Watts. During Celebration, Jon Watts touched upon his plans for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, “a story about a group of kids, about 10 years old, from a tiny little planet who accidentally get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. And it’s the story of their journey trying to find their way home… We liked the idea of using kids to give you a different perspective and see the galaxy through a different pair of eyes.”
Lucasfilm President Kenneth Kennedy spoke to Comicbook.com about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, “Jon Watts came to me, very much wanting to do a sort of Goonies in Star War. Needless to say, I’m going to say yes. And so it’s just evolved out of that kind of enthusiasm in wanting to tell stories in this space.”
Watts way of describing the show is significantly different than what we’d thought earlier. The original premise was supposed to be a group of 4 friends embark on a some kind of Amblin-style mission in space. Even when the filming has started we don’t have much idea of the rest of the cast featuring in this show. What we do know is the show will be penned down by Chris Ford. The show looks like a fresh installment to the Star Wars universe and I hope it would fare better than Obi-Wan Kenobi.
