Superman 2025 Full Plot Summary – Massive Spoilers
Thirty years ago, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van sent their infant son Kal-El to Earth to escape their planet Krypton’s destruction. Raised as Clark Kent by human adoptive parents Jonathan and Martha Kent in Smallville, Kansas, the Kryptonian gains incredible powers from the Sun’s yellow light. Inspired to heroism by Jor-El and Lara’s farewell message, three years ago Clark debuted as Superman, the most powerful metahuman. As Clark he is a reporter for the Daily Planet in Metropolis alongside Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane. He recently began a relationship with Lois, who knows Clark’s secret identity.
Superman stopped an invasion by Boravia, an ally of the United States, of neighboring Jarhanpur three weeks ago. Brilliant billionaire Lex Luthor assures General Rick Flag Sr. and others in the government—who wonder if Superman might be a threat—that he can defeat the alien if necessary. The mysterious “Hammer of Boravia”, Ultraman, badly injures Superman in Metropolis. The superpowered dog Krypto takes Superman back to the Fortress of Solitude in Antarctica, where he heals with concentrated solar radiation. Luthor—who despises Superman for making humans like him seem insignificant—secretly controls Ultraman; they and the Engineer invade the Fortress, steal Jor-El and Lara’s message, and abduct Krypto.
As Superman and fellow heroes Green Lantern, Mister Terrific, and Hawkgirl battle Luthor’s kaiju as diversion, Luthor recovers the entire Kryptonian message—which Superman had not heard before, in which his parents urge him to conquer Earth—and broadcasts it to the world. Public opinion turns against the alleged threat, and Superman voluntarily surrenders to the government for questioning; because of Superman’s power, Flag gives custody of the hero to Luthor.
Luthor imprisons Superman in an artificial pocket dimension where he holds various enemies including Krypto. With the son of Metamorpho as hostage, Luthor forces the metahuman to create Kryptonite, poisonous to Superman. Luthor’s girlfriend Eve Teschmacher, infatuated with Jimmy, reveals that Luthor secretly backs Boravia in return for half of Jarhanpur’s territory. Mister Terrific and Lois enter the pocket dimension and rescue Superman, Krypto, and Metamorpho. They inadvertently damage the pocket universe, opening a black hole that threatens Earth.
While Green Lantern, Metamorpho, and Hawkgirl stop a second Boravian invasion, Superman battles the Engineer and Ultraman as the growing black hole nears Metropolis. Superman learns that Ultraman is Luthor’s unintelligent clone of the hero. Luthor is so intent on defeating Superman that he refuses to close the black hole, which splits the city in half. As Mister Terrific hacks Luthor’s system to close the abyss, Superman throws Ultraman into the black hole while Lois and Jimmy reveal Luthor’s scheme in the Planet. Earth is saved and Luthor is arrested.
Superman recovers from his injuries at the Fortress while his cousin Kara Zor-El returns to pick up her dog Krypto. To relax he watches a montage of childhood memories with Jonathan and Martha, his true parents.
Superman Post-Credit Scenes Explained

Mid-Credits Scene: The first after credits scene shows Superman (David Corenswet) with Krypto on the Moon, looking at Earth. Krypto is lying on Superman’s shoulder. It’s a cute scene with neither much relevance to the story nor sets up anything for the universe.
Post-Credits Scene: The second post-credits scene features Superman and Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) looking at a giant crack in a massive building, caused by the ground splitting during the final battle. Superman comments, “It’s crooked,” which annoys Mister Terrific. He walks away angrily and kicks a rock. It’s a humorous moment which serves as a a payoff to a noteworthy moment earlier in the movie. So basically, both the scenes are pretty much disappointing.
That’s it for today. Superman is all set to release in theatres worldwide on July 11, 2025.
