Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie

In the year where most of the big studio blockbusters fell through, from their ashes rises Taylor Swift with her Eras Tour movie that documents her 2023-24 Eras Tours and delivers one of the biggest hits of 2023. The Emmy winning singer is a huge global icon, matching up to the popularity levels of Michael Jackson. The audience pull of Swift is well known as she has done many ultra successful concerts around the world, but no one would’ve imagined that she’d carve her name in history when it comes to movies. Well, she has. Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has managed to surpass all box office expectations and achieve new heights in the theatrical space for a concert movie. Even after more than a month of its release, the film looks unstoppable as it keeps shattering box office records.

Taylor Swift Is Chasing Michael Jackson!

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie has become a box office menace as the film has just streamed pass the $250 million mark worldwide, including $178.2 million domestically and $71.8 million internationally, according to Variety. This is a huge achievement for a concert film, as it is only the second movie to do so. The first being Michael Jackson’s This Is It. The Sam Wrench directorial is chasing This Is It for the highest grossing concert film of all time worldwide, falling short just $11 million.

The Michael Jackson movie stands at an impressive $261 million, but I think it is safe to assume that Eras Tour will beat that figure eventually. The film has already beaten Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never for the highest grossing concert film domestically. These are just a few of the box office records broken by Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, including its staggering pre-sale ticket numbers which were comparable to a Marvel superhero blockbuster.

The success of Eras Tour movie is even more staggering when you consider the unconventional show timings and ticket prices of the film. The concert film started its theatrical run by playing only on Thursdays through Sunday. Tickets were also more expensive than usual, with adult prices set at $19.89 in reference to Taylor Swift’s birth year and 2014 album. The ticket prices for children and seniors were set at $13.13 in reference to Swift’s favorite number. Despite all these quirks, the movie had no problem finding an audience.

Then there are some people who complain that the audience has an aversion to step into movie theatres. When the content is worthy the audience will respect it and make it successful. Barbenheimer is a good example of the same. The Taylor Swift: Eras Tour concert film will be available for purchase on VOD and platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Vudu, Xfinity, YouTube and Google TV on her birthday, December 13th. This version will include three songs not featured in the theatrical version.
