While DC main universe is struggling left and right, fans and movie goers are pretty excited for the disconnected standalone DC franchises. These include the upcoming Joker 2: Folie A Deux and The Batman 2 which will release in 2024 and 2025 respectively. Matt Reeves’ The Batman delivered exactly what it said it would. It features a noir detective Batman who has been stripped off almost everything superhero like. He’s basically James Bond in black PJ’s with even less cooler looking gadgets and equipment. But again, it stands true to what Matt Reeves promised and is cool in its own way. It was also a major hit, both critically and commercially and hence, a sequel to the film was never in question. Well, some major information about the film has been leaked!
The Batman 2: Script Leaks Surface Online
You might be well aware that The Batman 2 is well under pre-production and is all set to be released on October 3, 2025. Based in the Matt Reeves’ Batman Universe, the film is a sequel to The Batman and The Penguin (2024). The film will star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobblepot/Penguin, Barry Keoghan as Joker, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, and to-be-confirmed actor as Clayface. As it happens, a new leak on infamous website 4chan has revealed some major script details of The Batman 2.
Apparantly, The Batman Part 2 script is ‘almost’ finished, and production is still set to begin in March. The leaker asked us to expect casting announcements as soon as the strike ends and as for the script, the leaker asked us to not expect major tone changes. The leaker said Reeves’ initial script is 170 pages long hinting that another long Batman flick is coming. As for the plot, identity is the main theme this time as once again Batman will have to use his detective skills. But this time he not only has to find out who is the murderer, but also prove Bruce Wayne is innocent. That’s right, Bruce will apparently be incriminated for crimes he didn’t commit.
The rogues introduced in the first movie will return, but fresh faces will terrorize Gotham City this time. These include, Hush, Clayface, Scarecrow, Pyg and Poison Ivy who were all in Reeves’ initial script. Apparently, Pyg will be introduced in The Penguin series which comes out next year! Moving on, new allies will also make an appearance, which specifically include Leslie Thompkins, Harvey Dent and Dick Grayson. Before you go crazy, Harvey will not be Two Face yet, but this iteration of the character will struggle with mental illness. As for Dick, he will be a minor part of the story, so don’t expect to see him fighting thugs as of yet.
That is pretty much all the leaker said about The Batman 2 script and is just enough to get us pumped but at the same time, not spoil too much. But until it is official, feel free to treat these leaks as unreliable. The Batman 2 is all set to be released on October 3, 2025.
