The final season of the hit superhero satire The Boys is almost here, and the hype is already crazy, violent, and very on brand. The Boys Season 5 will wrap up the Prime Video series with massive stakes, new characters, and a few surprises that have fans screaming into the internet. From Ashley Barrett suddenly becoming a supe to a long-awaited Supernatural reunion, the upcoming season promises to be absolutely wild. Let’s get into this.
Where is The Boys Season 5 Picking Up?

Season 5 will officially conclude the story of The Boys. The final season premieres on Prime Video on April 8, 2026, with the first two episodes releasing together. The finale is scheduled to air on May 20.
The story continues after the chaotic events of Season 4, where Homelander gains massive power, and the world edges closer to complete supe control. Billy Butcher, now with dangerous powers of his own, is preparing one last desperate plan to destroy the superhero system entirely. Which means the final season will likely deliver exactly what the series does best. An ungodly amount of chaos.
Ashley Barrett Might Finally Become a Supe

For four seasons, Ashley Barrett survived the brutal world of Vought with nothing but corporate panic, screaming meetings, and stress-induced hair-pulling. That may finally change.
In the Season 4 finale, Ashley overhears that Homelander and the Seven plan to eliminate people inside Vought who could expose them. Realizing she is on the list, she grabs a vial of Compound V and injects herself to survive. Immediately after the injection, Ashley collapses as her body begins mutating, suggesting that she is undergoing the same transformation that creates superpowered individuals. The moment cuts away before viewers learn what powers she gains. That cliffhanger is expected to pay off in Season 5.
What Can Happen?
Interestingly, Ashley is not a character from the original comic books, which means the show can give her completely new abilities without following any existing storyline. Fans have already begun theorizing about her powers. One theory suggests her abilities could be connected to hair or the scalp. The finale briefly shows unusual movement around her head while her wig falls off, hinting at something happening beneath the surface.
Other possibilities are more traditional powers like enhanced strength, intelligence, or durability, since Compound V produces unpredictable results. Whatever the outcome, Ashley suddenly becoming a supe dramatically changes her role in the story. The character who once managed superheroes might now become one herself. And honestly, that feels like the most diabolical promotion in television history.
The Supernatural Reunion Is Actually Happening

Another huge highlight of Season 5 is the reunion of several stars from the long-running fantasy series Supernatural. Jensen Ackles already appeared in previous seasons of The Boys as Soldier Boy. Now his former co-stars, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, are joining the final season as well.
All three actors previously worked together for fifteen seasons on Supernatural, which was also created by Eric Kripke. Kripke has said for years that he wanted to bring the trio together again, and Season 5 finally makes that happen. The upcoming trailer even shows Ackles’ Soldier Boy confronting Collins’ mysterious character in an intense scene, teasing the kind of chaotic interaction fans expect from the show.
Padalecki and Collins are not playing their famous characters, Sam and Castiel. Instead, they appear in entirely new roles within the The Boys universe. Still, seeing the actors together again is enough to excite longtime viewers. It is basically the television equivalent of a reunion tour, except with more explosions and significantly worse people.
