Prince Charles and Camila Parker Bowles in The Crown

The Crown is back, and bigger than ever. In its sixth season, which is also supposed to be its last, the show will be featuring some big events from the history of the British royal family. In a tweet/post on X, Netflix announced that the show will feature a royal wedding: the one between Camila Parker Bowles and Prince Charles (currently King Charles III).

What To Look Forward To In The Crown Season 6?

Document shared by Netflix

The streaming giant’s post on X (Twitter) featured a photo of  a document that says “Service of prayer and dedication following the marriage of His Royal Highness the Prince of Whales and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall.” The caption reads, “After six seasons, seven years and three casts, The Crown comes to an end later this year. Here’s a hint at what’s to come in our final season.”

This season will also feature the premiership of Tony Blair, the death of Princess Diana and the early stages of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship. The show was supposed to previously conclude with its fifth season, but as creator Peter Morgan pointed out, “As we started to discuss the storylines for Season 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons. To be clear, Season 6 will not bring us any closer to present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton in The Crown

The season will have Dominic West and Olivia Williams reprising their roles as the then Prince Charles and Camila Parker Bowles. It will also have Elizabeth Debicki playing Princess Diana, as her death will be an important part of this season. Rufus Kampa and Ed McVey have been cast as Prince William, while Meg Bellamy will play Kate Middleton.

Suzanna Mackie, one of the show’s executive producers said, “It’s an interesting thing to contemplate, because I am really, really proud of this final season. I don’t want to spoil the very end, but it’s really beautiful and, I think, quite profound, and it feels like a culmination of a very long journey.” Filming for the show wrapped in April, and it is supposed to drop by the end of this year.
