The Flash 2023

The Flash is DC’s last hope at a box office blockbuster before James Gunn takes over. The film’s box office predictions were already but somehow it has managed to open lower than what was estimated. The Flash released on 16th June and in its opening weekend has collection $55 million in the domestic markets which is huge disappointment. The international markets aren’t better either as the film only managed $75 million making its global opening weekend of $139 million. Considering that the film has a massive budget of $200 million it is likely that The Flash is about to become another Black Adam which opened at $67 million.

Unless there is a twist in the tale where the film can become something like 2015’s “Ant-Man,” which opened to $57 million and ended with $519 million worldwide, as well as 2018’s “Aquaman,” which debuted to $67.4 million and finished at $1.15 billion globally. While the film is fighting it out with competitions like Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Adipurush (in some markets), we’ve reportedly gotten the release date of physical media copies.

The Flash’s Blu-ray Release Date Is Not That Far Away!

A pre-order new listing on Blu-ray.com revealed the The Flash’s potential physical media release date. The date displayed on the website is September 5th 2023. While this is not the official date at least yet, Blu-ray.com has a record of credibility, suggesting September 5 is likely the current projected date. Historically, Warner Bros.’ release pattern is very simple- theatrical release first, followed by digital renting and purchase, streaming on Max (formerly HBO Max) and then finally Blu-ray and 4K discs purchases.

What is interesting is these benchmarks remain same but the time span between them vary. If the date from this report is believed then The Flash will release on Blu-ray and most likely on Max (streaming platform), 81 days after its theatrical debut. On the other hand, the gap between the theatrical and Blu-ray, also streaming release of Shazam!: Fury of the Gods was only 67 days.

Andres Muschietti (IT) will helm The Flash, and Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Batgirl) will pen the story. Additionally, it will feature the Bruce Wayne/Batman characters played by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, as well as Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdu as Nora Allen, Ian Loh as a young Barry Allen, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso in unspecified roles.

The Flash is slated for a theatrical release on June 23, 2023.
