The Hunger Games The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes Release, Cast, All We Know

The Hunger Games film series is composed of science fiction dystopian adventure films, based on The Hunger Games trilogy of novels by the American author Suzanne Collins. The movies are distributed by Lionsgate and produced by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik. The series star Jennifer Lawrence as the protagonist Katniss Everdeen, and also featurs  Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland. The series ended in 2015 with The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part II but now, it is returning with a prequel titled The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. A hype-worthy new trailer for the movie just dropped a few hours ago, and fans now want to know absolutely everything about it. The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes Trailer and Release Date

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is directed by Francis Lawrence with a screenplay by Michael Lesslie and Michael Arndt. It is based on the 2020 novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins and serves as a prequel to The Hunger Games (2012). It is the fifth installment in The Hunger Games film series and will showcase the rise of President Snow portrayed by Tom Blyth. The film also stars Rachael Zegler as the female tribute from District 12 who forms a connection with Coriolanus, and a member of the Covey, a travelling musician group. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 17, 2023.

The above attached trailer for the film set the Internet on fire and hyped fans beyond measure. They were especially pumped up seeing Peter Dinklage taking on yet another fantasy role as the Dean of the Academy and intellectual author of the Hunger Games. The trailer is action packed and at the same time features some powerful dialogues and an intense setting. Although the BGM is bit overly loud, the overall trailer is nothing short of a masterpiece. From costumes and make up to setting and VFX, everything seems incredible and frankly, it looks even more promising that the main saga.

The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbird and Snakes Cast and Plot

Set 64 years before the main saga, the official premise for The Hunger Games prequel reads as follows. Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the female tribute from impoverished District 12.

“But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy Gray’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake. The cast aside from Tom Blyth as Coriolanus “Coryo” Snow, Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird, and Peter Dinklage as Casca “Cas” Highbottom is as follows:
