The Nun was the biggest blockbuster from The Conjuring universe despite being poorly received by critics but did wonders at the box office. The horror flick still remains to be the highest grossing film from the famous horror franchise. This year we got a follow-up to the 2018 hit – The Nun II. The film acts as a sequel to The Nun but still a prequel to The Conjuring 2. The Michael Chaves directorial has opened up to better reviews than most of the films in the franchise. Made on a teensy budget of $38 million, The Nun 2 has done extraordinary business so far. The sequel has collected $206 million in 22 days of theatrical run. With this collection, The Nun II has become the highest grossing horror film of 2023 beating Insidious: The Red Door. Despite this amazing success, Warner Bros. has decided to make the film available for online and Blu-ray purchase fairly quickly.
The Nun 2 Sets An Early Blu-ray Release Date!
The Nun 2 will be available to purchase on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 14. Considering that most films becomes available for streaming around the same time as their physical media release we can assume that the sequel will have its streaming release date sometime mid November. As the film was distributed by Warner Bros., The Nun II will definitely start streaming on the studio’s streaming service – Max.
Ahead of its 4K release, When To Stream, the film will arrive on digital platforms like VOD/digital platforms starting on October 3, 2023 with fans able to buy the film on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV+, Google Play and Vudu. This is a quick turnaround from Warner Bros., as the film is coming to digital only a mere 25 days after the sequel initially premiered in theaters on September 8.
This theatre to digital window marks one of the shortest for Warner Bros. and this is a studio who is not a big fan of the big screen right now. The Flash and Blue Beetle, both box office bombs, became available digitally after only 32 days in theaters. Meg 2: The Trench on the other hand, only ran in theaters for a meager 21 days before it hit VOD marketplaces. The only exception to this aggressive theatre to digital trend from Warner Bros. is Barbie – 53 days, as the Margot Robbie starrer is the highest grossing film of the year.
