After seeing quite a bit of expansion, the world of Witcher is now in a crisis mode. Ever since Witcher Season 2 ended, things haven’t been going Netflix’ way. Firstly, there was a huge backlash when fans came to know writers didn’t respect the source material. Then there was the whole Henry Cavill exit debacle which literally broke the faith and interest of most of the fans. What little bit hype remained was shattered by the extremely disappointing and poor The Witcher: Blood Origin. So with the a highly negative atmosphere around the franchise, hopes aren’t high for the upcoming season. The biggest skepticism fans have about it is how Netflix will transition between Cavill and Hemsworth without seeming out of place. Well, we do have some answers for that, so read on!
The Witcher Season 3 to Season 4 Transition To Be Lore Accurate
The Witcher Season 3 Volume 1 is all set to hit Netflix in barely 2 days now and the hype is real now, although there’s not much of it. Still, the series has become a guilty pleasure for the hardcore fans and is loved by casual viewers in general. One thing is common between haters and fans, which is that everyone is confused about how Netflix will proceed after losing the very lead of the series. As it happens, the producers a lore accurate transition from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth.
Producer Tomek Baginski said “We have a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt and our new vision for Geralt with Liam. Not going deeply into those ideas because this will be a huge spoiler, [but] it’s also very, very close to the meta ideas which are deeply embedded in the books, especially in book five. It’s very lore accurate. It’s very close to what was set out in the books and I think this change will be quite flawless. But at the same time it will be a new Geralt, it will be a new face for this character and I think it will also be very, very exciting to see.“
So, here is what it means but beware that the following section might contain a few minor spoilers for the books as well as potential spoilers for season 3. By Book 5 they mean The Witcher: Baptism of Fire and there is a perfect transition point between Book 4 aka Time of Contempt and Book 5. So, here’s what happens without spoiling much. A major battle takes place in Time of Contempt which renders Geralt half-dead and clinging on to his life in the care of dryads of Brokilon. This could act as the perfect transition point for Geralt as when he gets back on his feet in Book 5 aka Baptism of Fire, he is a new man with a new mission.
There’s also a point in Book 6, where Geralt quits being a Witcher and his quest but that’s too far ahead in the story and highly unlikely. So, what’s mentioned above is the most logical explanation of how the transition will take place. Rest we’ll find out soon enough but till then you can share your own thoughts below!
