Twister is a 1996 action-adventure film that dealt with an extremely interesting premise, “Bill and Jo Harding, advanced storm chasers on the brink of divorce, must join together to create an advanced weather alert system by putting themselves in the cross-hairs of extremely violent tornadoes.” Did you ever think of that a profession such as storm chaser might give us an action film? And people say everything has been done in cinema. There are a lot of things that haven’t been done, you just need to see them. When Twister came out it received average critical reception but wrecked havoc in theatres as the film made on a budget of $92 million collected $495.7 million. Now, naturally for such a successful film you’d expect a sequel to go in the works almost immediately but strangely that didn’t happen.
Cut to 27 years later. Warner Bros. is making Twisters – a sequel to the 1996 classic Twister and guess who was just got cast in it? None other than the top choice to play Superman in James Gunn’s reimagined DCU.
