Zepotha: The Trending Horror Movie on TikTok

TikTok is one of the most widely used social networking apps, millions of people use it to promote their music, books, and more. If you have been on the TikTok app lately you might have come across comments regarding Zepotha. So, what is this film about?

Is Zepotha Movie Real?

Zepotha is a horror movie from the 80s but the twist is it’s not real. People have been confused about the whole trend. 18-year-old musician and TikTok user Emily Jeffri created this horror movie. Over the weekend she shared a post suggesting this idea of a fabricated horror movie to convince people that it’s real.

Jeffri wrote, “OK so new bit idea: what if we created a fake 80s horror movie called ‘Zepotha’ & started commenting “omg u look EXACTLY like that one girl from Zepotha” or “Wait u look exactly like ____ from Zepotha” one every thirst trap we see…Together we will witness new lore develop, main characters will emerge, etc. & we can convince thousands of people that this weirdly title 80s horror film actually exists.”

It would be an understatement to say the plan worked well. Within a couple of days, Emily’s post already has a million views. A search for Zepotha on TikTok brings up countless viral videos of people joining the trend or explaining it. There are Zepotha filters, VHS tapes, and montages available now. The music playing in the original post’s background is a snippet from Jeffri’s song. The song, “DO YOU REMEMBER ME,” is from her upcoming album “SOUNDTRACK FOR AN 80’S HORROR MOVIE.” The album will release on August 25. Hats off to this music marketing idea!
