DC once Warner Bros’ greatest asset has now become a huge liability. The studio has endured three back to back box office disastrous of growing proportions. The most recent one, The Flash has been labelled as the worst box office failure in the studio’s history. I mean after Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash what is next for DC? As it turns out it is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The film which made audiences walk out of the theatres during test screens. There is no hype around the film and it is most likely to be a box office dud. Apart from the supposed abysmal quality of the sequel, the addition of Amber Heard, Johnny Depp’s ex wife is not a good shade. However, the actress isn’t afraid of speaking about the film even after everything that happened to her last year.
Aquaman 2: Amber Heard Is Back In The Press!
In a recent interview with Deadline, Amber Heard was caught talking about how she appreciates that there are two extremes in her career. The actress also talked about Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and addressed her part in the sequel:
“Oh, of course. These are very different kinds of projects representing two very different ends of the spectrum in my industry. There’s a ton of pressure on these big franchise movies, with millions and millions of dollars at stake, and compromises are part of trying to make it the most successful thing it can be. Then on the other end of the spectrum is a small indie film like ‘In The Fire,’ a work of art and work of love, with nowhere near the same resources, and so there are compromises there. The best luck you can have as an actor is to be able to balance both.”
The actress further continued, “‘Aquaman,’ that franchise and the machinery behind it, I’m very honored, honored to be a part of that. And then there are these small passion projects like ‘In The Fire,’ where I’m proud to have gotten to know the filmmaker and the cast, and we got dirty together, to breathe life into this story. There’s something cool about that, and I think success is an actor who is able to have both those things.”
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is slated to release in theatres on 20th December 2023.
