Although we are getting more and more superhero content every year, almost all of them are now falling flat and offer absolutely nothing fresh. Sure they are fun while they last, but the moment you exit the theatre, you realize that they had absolutely nothing to say. Counting the past 2-3 years, this has been the case for most of Marvel Phase 4, Umbrella Academy Season 3, and most of DCEU (now DCU). Aside, from that DCU is currently also suffering from a lack of vision and lost faith of the audiences. James Gunn and Peter Safran have to really step up the game, and Blue Beetle would be the first DCU film to be disconnected from the previous films and mark the beginning of the new era of DCU. Although earlier it was intended to be a part of the old DCEU, Gunn later confirmed that it will be retconned into being part of the new DC Universe. Today we have some exciting news about the same!
DCU’s Blue Beetle Trailer Coming in April First Week!
There are 4 planned DCU releases for 2023 and 3 of them are a part of the old DCEU – Shazam: Fury of the Gods (review here), The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. All three of them will most likely be the last appearances all those particular characters, however, Blue Beetle is gonna be a slightly different case. If the film is received well, Gunn will surely take it forward and all the mess that has been made by this DCEU to DCU shift will be clarified in the upcoming Flash and Aquaman 2 films. Fortunately The Flash will be released before Blue Beetle, so viewers will most likely get clarity as to where DC is heading will all these projects. It is expected that The Flash will break DC into various alternate universes and the old DCEU would be one of those universes, while the new DCU will most likely become the main one.
Anyways, getting back to Blue Beetle, fans are eagerly waiting for a teaser or trailer for the film and it seems like it is really close now. As of now we have the first poster for the film, some leaked costume looks for Blue Beetle, and the knowledge about cast and basic characters. Although, Blue Beetle isn’t that popular a character, but at this point fans are rooting for anything good from DCU and this may be it. Yesterday, George Lopez took to Instagram to announce that a trailer is coming soon and a few hours ago, popular entertainment website @BigScreenLeaks confirmed that the trailer will coincide with another massive movie release.

Now if you take a look at WB’s major releases in the upcoming weeks, they are Super Mario Bros Movie, Renfield, and Evil Dead Rise. Considering that Renfield and Evil Dead Rise are going to be R rated and cater to a very different set of audience, Super Mario Bros is the most logical choice. Not only will it have a larger audience it will also have a similar niche of audience. Super Mario Bros movie is all set to release on 7th April so we will most likely see the first trailer for Blue Beetles within the first week of April or on 7th April itself. So, that is a really good news for the fans as they’ll finally have something to get hyped about!
Blue Beetle is scheduled to be released in the US on August 18, 2023.
