DC: The Black Superman Film Gets A Surprising Update

A black iteration of Superman has been talked for a long time and fans have been demanding a movie to be made but things never progressed any further.  Many fans had fancasted a lot of actors to play Black Superman but they just remained fancastings. I would personally like to Michael B. Jordan to play Superman. I know a lot of people would want to see Idris Elba as Superman and that would be cool but I think his age would restrict him to play the part and he is anyways Bloodsport now. The Ta-Nehisi Coates and J.J. Abrams’ Black Superman reboot is in development at Warner Bros. Discovery but other then this news we had no other updates on the Black Superman project until today, as we have just received a surprising update from DC Boss James Gunn.

DC Universe’s Black Superman Might Be Made Soon!

A Black Superman Movie Is Reportedly In Development!

James Gunn recently revealed in an interview with io9, that the much awaited and talked about Black Superman film is still on board for the studio, however, there is no script as of now. The film will most likely be produced by J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot. Gunn also immediately clarified that this project won’t be canon to the main timeline of the DCU storyline that Gunn and Safran are currently developing. It would be a separate Elseworlds story just like The Batman franchise and Joker franchise.

Gunn said, “Those two things are totally unrelated. That’s an exciting movie. I know that Chantal Nong, who is the executive on that project, is extremely excited about it. So if it comes in and it’s great, which I haven’t read the script, and if the timing is right, that could absolutely happen. That’s totally unrelated. It would be an Elseworlds tale like ‘Joker.'”
