After the imminent success of Joker in 2019, we’re getting more of Joaquin Phoenix’s iteration of the clown prince of crime. The news came to us last year that the rumored sequel is indeed turning into a reality and in fact in the wildest fashion anyone can imagine. The sequel would be once again written and directed by Todd Phillips but with a twist. It is not a generic sequel rather a curious one. Joker 2 is titled Folie à Deux and is reportedly a musical. Another peculiar detail about the sequel is that it might be told entirely from Harley Quinn’s perspective. Who plays Harley Quinn? Well, now everyone knows that Lady Gaga would be tasked to bring this version of Harley Quinn to life. Filming began last year and in a quick turn of events we got our first look at Joaquin and soon after that Gaga in their roles. Today, we don’t have any official looks rather leaks from set that give us our first look at Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in action in Gotham.
Joker Is Back In Gotham!
@DC_DailyPlanet was the first one to leak the new set photos of Joaquin Phoenix in Joker costume and make-up wandering the streets of Gotham. The photo reveals Phoenix in a black robe, red pants, and black boots. The filming appears to be taking place by the corner of Broadway and Fifth Street in Los Angeles, California.

@KevinAnticonaa shared a different image where we Joaquin in the same Joker get-up with a Black hood covering his face. Behind him is an oversized traffic light and street sign.

@Gagadiaryy shared three new images which doesn’t show anyone else from the film’s cast but it does show the location of Los Angeles has been changed to Gotham city. One photo shows a marquee with the word “CAMEO” down the side reading “JOJO DANCER,” the second features construction work and various materials, and the third is the same “CAMEO” marquee, though it now reads “DANISH ART FILMS” and features a ticket booth underneath.

As I’d said before the title “Folie à Deux” means a type of mental illness shared between two close people. Where can Joaquin’s Arthur Fleck find someone who shares a similar mental illness as him? Well his best bet would the Arkham Asylum. Both characters can find comfort in each and other as they’d empathize.
The first Joker movie featured an incredible ensemble cast that included Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Shea Whigham, Bill Camp, and Brett Cullen as Thomas Wayne. Let me know your thoughts on these latest updates. Are you excited for Joker 2? What do you think a comic book musical movie be like?
