Joaquin Phoenix is already returning for the role that earned him is long awaited Oscar. Joker 2: Folie à Deux is the sequel that is supposed to take place after the events of the first film. If I was asked honestly, nothing in the first film was shouting for a sequel. It was an average film with a brilliant performance from Phoenix. Was it the best on-screen portrayal of Joker- No. It is still Heath Ledger. However, the sequel is not a very conventional. It is different and quirky. To start with it is a musical and there is a huge possibility that rather than just being a sequel it is more of a spin-off for Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn. There are many reports stating that the film will be through her point of view. Just at the start of this year, we got the first looks of both Phoenix and Gaga for the sequel. Now, as the film is about to complete principal photography we have another look of Joaquin and he looks amazing.
Joker 2: The New Image Looks Stunning!
October 4 is a very special date for Joker director Todd Phillips, as back in 2019 the first film came out on that date. Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel, will be sharing that date as well, as the film is set to release in theatres on Oct. 4, 2024. One year ahead of the new film and four years after the original movie’s release, Phillips to celebrate the occasion took to Instagram with a previously-unseen photo of Joaquin Phoenix’s return as the titular Clown Prince of Crime.

As I’d said before the title “Folie à Deux” means a type of mental illness shared between two close people. Where can Joaquin’s Arthur Fleck find someone who shares a similar mental illness as him? Well his best bet would the Arkham Asylum. Both characters can find comfort in each and other as they’d empathize. The first Joker movie featured an incredible ensemble cast that included Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Shea Whigham, Bill Camp, and Brett Cullen as Thomas Wayne.
