Shazam: Fury of the Gods is the first DC movie and I have to say that the year has begun on a rather grim note for DC and Warner Bros. Discovery. The sequel to the 2019’s Shazam has been a box office failure for DC. This marks the second consecutive box failure for DC. It seems like the damage done by Black Adam was too much for audiences to put their faith back in DC. The sequel made on a budget of $110-125 million has only made $121.1 million in the 21 days of its theatrical run. Looking at the trends it doesn’t seem the sequel will earn more. If Zachary Levi’s future is really dependent on the success of the second movie, then I think it is fair to say that there is no future anymore. This is not just me saying. Even Warner Bros. is aware of this as they have decided to release the film digitally after just 21 days in the theatres.
Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods Is Imminently Released Online!
In a recent official press release, Warner Bros. Discovery revealed that Shazam: Fury of the Gods will be available to own digitally from 7th April 2023, Friday. This is right after Amazon’s listing recently revealed that the film will be available for purchase from 18th April. The release also revealed that the 4K UHD and Blu-ray versions of the film will be available for purchase after six weeks that is, 23rd May 2023. Both the digital and physical releases come packed with a number of featurettes and new special features, including making off documentaries and even a director’s commentary from David F. Sandberg.

As you may know, the streaming release date for Shazam 2 is going to be the same aka 7th April 2023 and depending on your region, it will be available on certain streaming platforms. In India, for example it will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Shazam: Fury of the Gods has been released digitally only after 21 days of the theatrical release. For comparison, Black Adam was released digitally after 31 days and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released digitally after 60 days when it eventually releases on Disney+ on 18th April 2023.
Shazam: Fury of the Gods might still be playing in theatres near you and the film will be available for digital purchase on 7th April 2023.
