Just yesterday, we got a report from Deadline and other media outlets that Maria Gabriela de Faria has been cast in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy as the super-powered blockbuster Angela Spica (aka The Engineer who is most well known for her involvement in the supervillain team The Authority, a group that has its own DC film in the works at Warner Bros.), becoming the very first big bad from the new superhero universe to be announced. Faria’s previous credits include Fox’s Animal Control and The Moodys, but Superman marks the actress’ major motion picture debut. Following this news, fans were getting excited for James Gunn’s debut film in the new universe. To amp up their excitement even more – the new Superman star David Corenswet has shared a new image of his preparation for the role.

Superman: Legacy Corenswet Is Cavill’s Ideal Replacement?

David Corenswet’s gym trainer Paolo Mascitti shared a new photo of the actor in between workout sessions. The photo revealed that Corenswet has definitely added some muscle mass ever since being cast as Superman. The photo is testament that the baton has clearly passed on from Henry Cavill (who was in tip top shape for the role of Kal-El) to David Corenswet when it comes to embody the iconic character. Mascitti simply captioned the image as “THE LEGACY” and newly hired actress Maria Gabriela De Faria (as The Engineer) commented “THE ACTUAL LEGACY!!!”

Corenswet was previously photographed serving as the cinematographer for a documentary on artist Jon Schueler. Fans quickly noticed in those images that the Superman actor was already looking jacked. Casting Corenswet is definitely a foot in the right direction. As for Brosnahan, an earlier report has already told us that James Gunn was blown away by her audition for Lois Lane, so her casting doesn’t surprise me and would hopefully turn out to be great.

Superman: Legacy is the first movie in the new DC slate and is supposed to release on 11th July 2025.
