The new DC slate has been announced and it was not what we expected. I know each one of us would have had different reactions to it but if we’re being honest here then the slate was disappointing and this is coming from someone who has constantly criticized Marvel for the past two years, so you know that this is serious. As expected there is a Superman m0vie and in fact once again it is the first movie in the new cinematic universe. However, this time it won’t be played by fan favorite Henry Cavill which was a concern for every Snyderverse fan. I’m witnessing their outburst on Twitter on a daily basis. However, according to DC Boss James Gunn, the casting list that he has for the upcoming film Superman: Legacy is very exciting for him.
James Gunn Excited About The New Superman
Replying to a fan on Twitter, DC Boss James Gunn addressed the recasting of Henry Cavill and the next person in line to play the iconic character. The writer-director said, “Yes we have some incredible choices. I’m incredibly excited, and relieved.”
Gunn also commented on the process of producing Superman: Legacy. He addressed the workings of Hollywood, “It’s interesting to see the numerous responses to my answer here about how notes work in Hollywood. From when I began writing I have given my scripts and stories to many different trusted parties for “notes.” Listening to constructive criticism is the lifeblood for any writer.”
Gunn had a lot of praise for his partner in crime at DC- Peter Safran as he says that he is blessed to have him by his side, “This process has worked for me because I have been blessed in the partners I’ve chosen to work with – we are all moving towards one thing: making the movie better. And I can put my ego aside and be open when I need to be and convincing when I need to be.”
Superman: Legacy is the first movie in the new DC slate and is supposed to release on 11th July 2025.
