The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that there will be another group of superheroes debuting alongside Superman in James Gunn’s reboot. This report states that The Authority- who are a team of superheroes set to get their own film in the new DCU will make their debut in Superman: Legacy. In the original announcement of the slate, James Gunn had called The Authority his passion project. It has been sometime now that the filmmaker has opened up on Superman: Legacy. The Authority update also came quite a time later from him. Gunn has always been vocal about his projects, so, it was surprising that he did not comment on all the rumors about the casting for his Superman reboot. Well, that changes today as Gunn has finally broken his silence.
James Gunn Opens Up About Superman: Legacy Audition!
In an interview with Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, filmmaker and DC Co-CEO James Gunn, has opened up about all the casting and auditions rumors that have been going on about his upcoming Superman reboot. He said:
“Now that we’ve kind of done a lot of auditions, we’re narrowing it down. We’re not done yet. By the way — there’s a lot of stories out there about who we’re auditioning and all these screen tests. I’m just saying it’s not all true, that’s for sure… Journalists have to do what they have to do. That’s their job. They’re trying to get hits. They find out some things from agencies, but here’s the problem — is that they find out some things from agencies that might be true. They find out other things from agencies, which are agencies pushing their clients and trying to pump it up, like ‘I think my client is testing!’ There’s a lot of nonsense that comes out of it, and that’s difficult, because there’s people out there that are supposedly testing that aren’t, and that must be difficult for them as people. And there’s other people that might be testing… and I think it’s a private thing between me and them.”
Superman: Legacy is the first movie in the new DC slate and is supposed to release on 11th July 2025.
