Superman: Legacy will set the tone of James Gunn’s newly found DCU. It is the first film in what is expected to be an ever expanding cosmos of stories. The last time DC attempted to start a cinematic universe, they started with a Superman film and in their second innings as well they’re going with Superman to debut their new world. I just hope that this time around their fate won’t be the same. I have faith in a creator like James Gunn, I just hope he doesn’t become too self indulgent. The debutant DC film has put another foot in the right direction as Milly Alcock has been officially cast as Supergirl.
Superman: Legacy – Princess Rhaenyra Will Now Be Supergirl!
Just a few days earlier, I’d covered an article that explained there are two actresses in the running for the role of Supergirl in the upcoming Superman: Legacy film – Milly Alcock who played Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon and Meg Donnelly who starred in American Housewife. Both of them auditioned for the part in Atlanta last week.
I’d mentioned that Milly Alcock would be the perfect fit for the role and it looks like many people think so too. Well, yesterday multiple news outlets broke the news that Milly Alcock has been officially cast as the Woman of Steel. I’m elated to hear that. Ever since House of the Dragon, I’ve truly believed in her talent and her magnetic screen presence.
Looks like she will be seen in another role where she’ll possess immense power. This is a huge boost for Alcock’s career. James Gunn also released a statement on the casting of Milly Alcock as Supergirl:
“Strangely, Milly was the FIRST person I brought up to Peter for this role, well over a year ago, when I had only read the comics. I was watching House of the Dragon & thought she might have the edge, grace & authenticity we needed for the DCU’s Supergirl. And now here we are. Life is wild sometimes.”
David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Maria Gabriela de Faria as Angela Spica/The Engineer, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific/Michael Holt, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern/Guy Gardener and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho/Rex Mason.
Superman: Legacy is the first movie in the new DC slate and is supposed to release on 11th July 2025.
