The Flash Full Plot
Barry Allen’s father Henry Allen serves in prison for killing his wife, a murder which he didn’t commit. Barry wants to free his Father at any cost and he decides to change the past, so that his mother could be saved. He plans to go back in time to avoid the death of his Mom, but while attempting to get back to the past he gets knocked off from speed force by another Flash, this is reportedly Flash’s nemesis known as Reverse Flash in comics.
Due to the interruption of Reverse Flash, Barry goes back to 2013, a timeline in which his parents were very much alive and living with his alternate version Barry Allen. Val-Zod shows up in his Kryptonian ship just like in Man of Steel, also played by the same actor. Barry tries to assemble Justice league to fight Zod. But he can’t find Wonder Woman and Cyborg is not actually Cyborg and never been in an accident. Aquaman isn’t born yet.
Alt-Barry tells him that there’s a Batman in this alternate universe, a very old and retired crime-fighter. He tells him Gotham is finally at peace and no crime to fight around. It’s one of the safest cities on Earth. The alt Barry also tells him the concept of multiverse and when he tried to change the past, it impacts the events in both directions.
Batman is reluctant to help Barry and wants to stay away from action. Barry goes into the Batcave and tries to find a Kryptnonian pod to locate Superman. He finds out that he’s being held in Siberia. Along with Batman, the two Barry’s go in the Batwing to find Clarke. At the Siberian base, they find out it isn’t Clarke being held, but it’s his cousin Kara. She’s also very weak. They get her out of the prison and she tells them that her pod is sent after Kal-El’s, but they got separated and she doesn’t know where to find her cousin. They go to the desert to fight Zod and he reveals he killed Kal-El as an infant and the codex he’s looking for is hidden with Kara.
In the resulting fight, Batman and Supergirl gets killed. The two Barry’s try to bring them back by going back into the past, but Supergirl and Batman keep dying again in the resulting fight. The main Barry realizes this is always meant to happen and tells the alt-Barry who’s obsessed with saving Supergirl to give up. But he doesn’t listen and keeps going back in time, getting hurt fighting the Kryptonians. Eventually, a future version of alt-Barry, the reverse Flash who actually knocked main Barry to this universe shows up. He didn’t give up and trying for years with different combinations, traveling across various universes, seeing their creation and destruction as he tries to save Kara and Batman.
The Reverse Flash has realized that main Barry is the key and cause for all the disturbance created in this universe. So he decides to kill him. Reverse Flash tries to stab main Barry, but the younger alt-Barry interferes and jumps in the way, causing a time paradox due to killing himself. The reverse Flash disappears and alt-Barry dies in the arms of main Barry.
To save the alt-Barry timeline and fix his own damage by messing with the past, Barry undoes the change he did to the past timeline to save his mom. He feels he have reset the timeline and goes back to his apartment where he finds the note of his girlfriend Iris. He goes to his Dad’s court hearing and finds out that which was previously established as a pointless video evidence dealing with his Dad’s alibi because it didn’t show is face is now considered as a valid evidence as due to the new advancements from Wayne enterprises, his face is now visible and clearly seen. He’s released from prison.
Barry and his Dad celebrate and Bruce Wayne’s car shows up. Barry expects Batfleck to get out of the car. But instead the much older alt-timeline version of Batman gets out, portrayed by Michael Keaton. Barry confused, sees a Bus drive with Wonder Woman poster on it. Wayne tells him he remembers all that happened in the alt timeline and this new universe is actually a merge of Barry’s timeline with his, resulting in some odd changes. Supergirl flies next to them. Wayne says “Ready to get to work?”, and Barry smiles, that’s the end.
Ben Affleck’s Extended Cameo
The film also sees Affleck’s return to the role of Batman after Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The film opens with Barry eating a sandwich and getting a call to help Batman. Batman and Flash have an action set piece with Bats chasing down criminals and Flash saving people in an hospital. Batman almost dies trying to save the city before Wonder Woman shows up. They both share a funny moment with her trying to attempt the lasso of truth test.
Affleck tries to help Barry in restoring the footage of his father to produce as alibi in court. He also tells Barry not to tinker with the past and ignore the idea of saving his Mother.
