The Flash Will Reset the DCU - Will Ezra Miller And Gal Gadot Be Replaced

The Flash has been in discussion for a long time now. Mostly we have been talking how the trailer is supposed to come out at the Super Bowl 2023. There has also been some speculation regarding multiple Batman variants along with multiple Flashes which could account for a very unique cinematic experience. A lot of us already know that The Flash was always going to be an extremely important film for DC as it is the only film which could cause a smooth transition of the DCEU into Gunn-Safran’s DCU. At the end The Flash we’re going to see major changes in the DCU which might be our first look at the upcoming narrative or saga. This does however, raise the question whether the The Flash will completely reboot the DCU? Another question that pops up is Gal Gadot and Ezra Miller part of the DCU or do they end their journeys here?

James Gunn Clarifies About The Flash!

The lingering question that has been bothering every DC fan is finally answered by James Gunn so we can count that as the official confirmation. After a fan had commented on one of James Gunn’s post on Instagram the DC Co-Head replied to the fan to once and for all answer the question of does The Flash reboot the entire DCEU? Turns out it doesn’t. James Gunn replied to the fan, “Flash resets many things, not all things,” Gunn revealed. “Some characters remain the same, some do not.”

The fan was confused about Viola Davis playing Amanda Waller in the new DCU as well. We know that some characters and actors are for sure being replaced some are still under the contention and their fate will only be revealed after the box office performance of these movies. Zachary Levi as Shazam is one example, his fate depends on how Fury of the Gods performs. Jason Momoa might be replaced as Aquaman if his sequel doesn’t do well but in that case too the actor will still be a part of the DCU as Lobo.

Ezra Miller’s future seems to be the most bleak as some reports claim that Warner Bros. Discovery want to keep him but Gunn and co. doesn’t. These are conflicting times and I think that decision will likely be taken after The Flash’s release, if it performs well then Miller might keep his job. On the same post another fan commented asking these same questions about Miller and Gadot’s future and Gunn had an interesting answer.

Gunn addressed that he agrees of Miller’s unreliability and his personal controversies don’t work too well for him as well. From this statement it seems like Gunn and Safran only have him around for now as they needed to a soft reboot. Their Flash maybe someone else who they’re scouting. Ezra Miller is only around because his film was already made. When it comes to Gal Gadot I’m not sure whether she will be involved in the DCU or not but what appears is that Gunn and Safran wanted to keep her but she didn’t want to work without Patty Jenkins.

Which makes sense as Jenkins’ pitch for Wonder Woman 3 isn’t moving at Warner Bros. Discovery. Whether Gadot would return to the DCU or not, that has to be seen. Gunn and Safran did clarify that this entire confusion what what is canon and what is not is only for sometime as as soon as their first movie- Superman: Legacy is released everything coming out next will be canon. The statement read, “The one thing that we can promise is that everything from Superman forward, from our first project forward, will be canon and will be connected,” Gunn said. “We’re using some actors from the past. We’re not using other actors from the past, but everything from that moment forward will be connected and consistent.”

Andres Muschietti (IT) will helm The Flash, and Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Batgirl) will pen the story. Additionally, it will feature the Bruce Wayne/Batman characters played by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, as well as Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdu as Nora Allen, Ian Loh as a young Barry Allen, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso in unspecified roles.

The Flash is slated for a theatrical release on June 23, 2023.
