The fallout of 2017’s disaster Justice League was an outcry of the fans to give them the original vision of Zack Snyder. The Joss Whedon directed film was a disappointment for not only every DC fans but also any cinephile. Add to that the allegations of Gal Gadot on director Joss Whedon’s behavior. The Justice League altogether was turning out to be a nightmare of Warner Bros. The uproar for the Zack Snyder’s Justice League was increasing with every new day. Many Warner Bros. executives had denied the existence of the Snyder Cut but Snyder had repeatedly dropped hints that the version indeed existed.
The fans campaign was so persuasive that Warner Bros. had to finally admit the existence of the Snyder Cut and let Snyder work on it so that the fans can see it. The 4 years of protesting was worth it as when the Snyder Cut released it was a 4 hour long affair. Upping every element for Whedon film, Snyder gave us a darker, grimmer, bigger and an overall better version of the Justice League. This is movie fans wished to see, the team up that was in the making since Man of Steel. While all fans share this notion about the film, there is someone who happens to be quite annoyed with the film. No, it is not Marvel. Reportedly, Warner Bros. are unhappy with Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Why you ask? Let’s find out.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League has Turned Fans Against Warner Bros.?
Apparently Warner Bros. thinks that their decision to release Zack Snyder’s Justice League was a bad call as the film’s release has further strengthened the narrative of Snyderverse amongst fans. The film’s quality has worked against Warner Bros. as they’re hesitant to take any big steps without facing backlash. They believe the film has turned fans against the studio. Despite all the success, Warner Bros. is unhappy. To be honest, I don’t see the problem. I don’t know why Warner Bros. doesn’t want a Snyderverse.
Especially after the success of the new film. Warner Bros. is willing but hesitant about their major DC shake-up. They want to reboot the entire universe set-up by Snyder and start a new one. This is what they intend to do with The Flash movie. Many Warner Bros. insiders have shared that the studio is afraid to make changes to the narrative and blames Zack Snyder’s Justice League for it. That’s hilarious. DC Publisher Jim Lee confirmed earlier this year that Warner Bros. don’t intend to continue the Snyderverse anymore.
In his statement at San Diego Comic Con 2022, Lee said, “You know what’s amazing, is we spent two years in lockdown, and here we are back at a convention, celebrating the art form, feeling good, I work on the projects that are in development. I think the SnyderCut was Zack’s vision realized and it was a really satisfying story told, but there are no plans for work on that material. I was happy to help contribute to the pitch for the other stuff, and it was fun to see that stuff get out there cause I did that years ago. I actually thought it had been erased, but they had kept it in storage.”
Zack Snyder who is currently working on his new Netflix film- Rebel Moon, talked about the Snyderverse sometime last year, “I would hope that anything Snyderverseian is [whatever] we’re doing as original IP. The DC universe is something that’s very close to my heart and something I spent a lot of time developing and thinking about, so I love it. But where I am right now is with the Rebel Moon of it all and the Army of the Dead of it all. They’re very much consuming our creative output. Hopefully, just anything that we’re doing that’s original and cool would fit into that category.”
