Invincible Season 2 - Release Date, Spoilers, Expected Plot and Characters Based on Comics

Invincible season 1 arrived on Prime Video last year and was without any doubt a gamechanger. It opened to widespread critical acclaim as well as a highly positive reviews from the viewers. Owing to all that Amazon Prime announced its plans for at least two more seasons, but we still have no idea when we can expect to see its return. We do have a few minor updates for you guys but nothing substantial which hints at exactly when it will return. So, if you are looking for a concreate release date, then we won’t be able to help you, however, you can find some important information here.

Invincible Season 2 Updates and Release Date

Back in March, the showrunner Simon Racioppa said, in an interview, that he and his team are working really hard on the show and that it was still under development. He said that they want to perfect it and present a quality show and that basically confirmed that we won’t see the show anytime soon. Reason behind it is that they still haven’t wrapped up the production process and then there would be post production and marketing activities as well. The last we heard about the show is this tweet below.

The voice acting phase began in the month of April and now it has begun to wrap up. This also means that most of the primary animation for the series must have also been wrapped up since voice acting work usually begins after the storyboards and primary animatics are crafted. But this also means that a lot of animation work is still to be done including the reanimation and integration of all the voiced scenes. Then there’s smoothing out the editing and other post production activities and then finally marketing and release. So, considering all this, it still quite a few months away.

IMDB also mentions season 2 release slate of 2023. Our earlier guess was a March 2023 release for Invincible season 2 as it’s the exact same month season 1 came out. But even that looks a bit difficult at this point as there has been absolutely no update since September. But the plus side is that season 2 and 3 are being produced back to back so we will not have to wait as long for Season 3 as we are for season 2. Now moving on to Season 2 spoilers and expectations which are based on the Invincible comics and the storyline they are adapting.

Season 2 Spoilers and Expected Plot / Characters Based on Comics

Invincible Season 2 Is Not Releasing in 2022, Sorry Omni Man vs Battle Beast, Thragg

So, let us first begin by the new characters we expect to see in the coming season. As per the events of the comics, Powerpyx, Bulletproof, Angstrom Levy, Darkwing 2, Duplikate’s Brother, Shapesmith, Oliver, and Brit will most probably make their first appearances. Moving on aside from the main cast, we expect the return of Omni Man, Flaxans, Titan, Doc Seismic, and the Battle Beast. We also expect to see a cameo by Seance Dog.

Following are some of the plot points which will most likely be explored in Invincible Season 2:

  • We’ll receive a glimpse of the multiverse

  • All major character’s origin stories will be explored
  • We’ll witness the new Guardians vs the Lizard League
  • Angstrom Levy will be brutally decapitated
  • Mark will go to Atlantis
  • We also expect one Allen centered episode
  • Also, if you’ve seen season 1 or read comics, you know Mark will probably get his ass kicked multiple times throughout this season as well
