Given the superhero fatigue along with Marvel’s arrogance to not accept what horrible content they’ve been making, the craze around MCU movies have died down. As the amount of content has increased, Kevin Feigi has found hard to keep tracks on everything and that shows. There is a drop in quality and Marvel has not been able to solve this problem. Along with the quality deficit, another problem that Marvel has faced are the production issues. Almost every Marvel project that is in the making is suffering from production issues. We all know about Blade, the reboot that pushed back Marvel’s entire Phase 6. The Marvels was supposed to release in July but it has now been pushed back to November. These were all movies, the TV front is struggling even more as many shows that were originally supposed to debut this year have been delayed. Now, owing to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes many more shows have been indefinitely delayed by Marvel studios.
Echo
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Marvel has delayed seven of its upcoming TV shows. Echo was originally going to debut on Disney+ on November 29th but has now been pushed back to January 2024. Unlike Marvel’s traditional release strategy of releasing one episode per week, all six episodes of Echo will release all at once on the said release date. The only other show to adopt this release strategy is I Am Groot that released on 10th August 2022, with all five episodes coming out on the same day. This delay comes as a surprise as many reports suggested the show would meet its release date.
What If…? Season 2
The season two of the hit Marvel series was set to debut in early 2023, however, the show was not able to meet this release date. After which, What If…? Season 2 was delayed indefinitely for a long time. However, this new report reveals that the show is eyeing a Christmas 2024 release date. Considering December 25th, 2024 is a Monday and Marvel shows historically debut on either Wednesdays or Fridays, What If…? Season two might debut on the platform on December 22nd (Friday), 27th (Wednesday) and 29th (Friday) in 2024.
X-Men ’97
Another Marvel project that has been delayed for a while is X-Men ’97. The show was originally supposed to debut in Fall 2023. However, now the show has been pushed back to early 2024. Although, no specific release date was attached. The upcoming show will be a continuation of the animated series that premiered throughout the 1990s, and it was even teased that a Season 2 is already in the works.
Ironheart
After her Marvel debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams will return to the silver screen with her own show. The solo project centered around her, was originally supposed to come out in Fall 2023. However, now Ironheart has been delayed to 2024 without a specific release date attached to it. The ongoing strikes are blamed for the delays.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries
If there is one thing that Marvel keeps on changing more than the WandaVision’s spin-off’s name, then it is its release date. Originally titled Agatha: Coven of Chaos, the show was originally on track for a 2023 release date. However, the witchy project is now set for a timely premiere in Fall 2024 in the lead-up to Halloween. One has to see whether the show finally sticks to this release date.
Daredevil: Born Again
Perhaps the most hyped show in Marvel’s slate is Charlie Cox’s Daredevil reboot. The fans have been extremely patient with this project and it looks like Marvel testing their patience once again. The show was originally scheduled to come out in spring 2024, and it’s now likely that it will not premiere until 2025. Once again, the ongoing strikes are to be blame for this delay as the show’s production was halted in the middle of shooting.
Wonder Man
Wonder Man was one of the Marvel projects that had a later release date than most of the shows in this list. Yahya Abdul Mateen II and Ben Kingsley are the only confirmed cast of the show. The show never had a release date to begin with but it is still delayed furthermore. Similar to Daredevil: Born Again, the Wonder Man’s production was halted by the strikes.
Loki Season two will start streaming on Disney+ from October 6th.
