Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the newest Marvel film to come out. It will also be the first Marvel film to come out this year, along with it, the film will mark Phase 5’s beginning as well. This will be the third installment in the Ant-Man franchise. Peyton Reed has once again returned to direct the threequel. Unlike other Ant-Man films, this one is so much more meaningful to the current phase of the MCU. After the premiere of the film that took place a few days ago. The first reactions from it were overwhelmingly positive but given the track record of Marvel, I was skeptical. So, I was desperately waiting for the embargo lift so that we can talk about the film more honestly. Finally, the day is here and the embargo is lifted. So we can now see what the critics really think about the film and it looks like I was right, there are glaring errors in the film.
Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania Reviews – Another Misfire From Marvel?
Louisa Moore
Screen Zealots
“Lacks the memorable spectacle that most superhero films need in order to succeed. There’s no massively rousing, crowd-pleasing moment, and it can only chug along on Rudd’s likeability (and the cast’s talent) for so long.”
Hoai-Tran Bui
Inverse
“The problem with Quantumania is that it’s not a movie, it’s a building block.”
Edward Douglas
The Weekend Warrior
“Quantumania is the closest thing to Marvel’s Star Wars, which isn’t necessarily a good thing.”

Jon Negroni
InBetweenDrafts
“If only they had just focused on making an Ant-Man movie. Not a redux of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 by way of Rick and Morty and now wanted by the police for plagiarizing Ralph McQuarrie.”

Jenna Anderson
ComicBook.com
“With multiple standout performances, an abundantly clear love for the wacky corners of science fiction, and a conflict that is guaranteed to matter in the years to come, Quantumania becomes the weirdest chapter in the MCU’s essential storytelling.”
Original Score: 4/5
Brent Hankins
The Lamplight Review
“As a proper introduction to the next intergalactic (and interdimensional) threat, and table-setting for the future of the MCU, the film accomplishes its role with aplomb, even if its characters get short-changed in the process.”
Original Score: 7/10
Dominic Griffin
Looper.com
“Feels less like an actual movie and more an excuse to get to the next movie that itself may or may not feel like an actual movie.”
Original Score: 4/10
Jeff Ewing
Slashfilm
“An undercooked adventure.”
Original Score: 6/10

“But even a star as bright as Majors’ can’t shine bright enough to eclipse just how unapologetically transitional and transactional Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is.”

Raising Whasians
“I think the little guy forgot to bring a “little” more humanity and relatability to the party. The reality is, the reality was missing. A decent sequel, but at this stage of the game, Marvel can and should have done better.”

Tessa Smith
Mama’s Geeky
“Marvel meets Star Wars kicks off the MCU Phase 5 with pure insanity and action. Paul Rudd continues to deliver great humor, but Jonathan Majors as Kang is the standout, as he commands attention in every scene he’s in. Fans will love or hate MODOK.”

“Plays like an instant knockoff of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with far less of that pesky filmmaking to get in the way.”

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a science fiction heavy adventure that continues the introduction of Kang, while merging the MCU with a Star Wars and even Rick and Morty vibe.”

CNET
“Welcome back the teeny-tiny superhero whose main superpower is Paul Rudd’s outsized charm, while his main weakness is that everybody’s always belittling him — even the creators of his own movie.”
Ian Sandwell
Digital Spy
“Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania ends up as a movie with great elements, rather than completely satisfying whole.”
Original Score: 3/5

“Your reaction will probably be determined by what you want out of the movie.”

Rohan Patel

“Best Ant-Man film yet and a strong start to Phase 5. Paul Rudd brings the heart as the loveable Scott Lang while Jonathan Majors brings the heat, making a rapturous debut as Kang the Conqueror! A new dynasty has begun and it’s time to bear witness!”
Original Score: 7.5/10
Meredith Loftus
Next Best Picture
“While it lacks the small scale and roster of beloved side characters, the narrow focus on this family and the new villain keeps “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” from going out of control.”
Original Score: 7/10
Matt Rodriguez
Shakefire
“Phase 4 was rather lackluster in its presentation on both an individual level and the bigger MCU picture, but Quantumania delivers an entertaining first act of what’s to come. Jonathan Majors conquers the film (and our hearts) as Marvel’s next big bad.”

Movie Nation
“‘Avatar’ with Ants…and some jokes.”

Groucho Reviews
“Offers too much sensational spectacle, melodrama, and high-stakes sci-fi adventure ever to bore its audience, but its echoes of exhausted blockbuster tropes ring hollow.”
Original Score: 2.5/4
