Secret Wars is based on the 2015 comic of the same name. The comic’s story focuses on a multi-versal war and events called as “incursions” (This term was referred to in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) that threatens the destruction of entire universes. With Kang slowly making his existence felt in the MCU it is only inevitable that everything culminates with Secret Wars. The Avengers films have always been Marvel’s gold standard, huge crossover event that happens after a lot of build-up. Marvel can only hope that they replicate the success of the last two Avengers films. However, seeing the current run of Marvel films, this task looks impossible. Although, it appears that Kevin Feigi still has some tricks up his sleeve as he might’ve recruited Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman to save the film.
Avengers: Secret Wars – Tobey And Jackman Will Be The Two Leads!
While the MCU deals with many setbacks post the pandemic, Marvel president Kevin Feigi is preparing for their biggest crossover event in history. We have all heard rumors about Tobey and Jackman appearing in the films and it seems like it is true. However, unlike previous assumptions they won’t be limited to a cameo. Rather they are supposed to have a much bigger part. What I’m about to mention are still rumors and nothing is confirmed by Marvel, yet.
Long time reliable industry leaker @MyTimeToShineHello tweeted on November 1st that not only will Tobey and Jackman be part of Secret Wars but they will also reportedly be the two leads of the movie. Jackman’s Wolverine and Maguire’s Spider-Man would meet and team up with one another in the film. @CanWeGetSomeToast also confirmed that the duo is set to be recruiting Prime Variants across the multiverse. The scooper also tweeted that Maguire and Jackman would serve as the leaders of the multi-versal army of the Time Variance Authority.
This suggests that Maguire and Jackman’s characters will be setting out on a mission of recruiting individuals along with the TVA to fight this multiverse war. In the same tweet, the leaker also mentioned that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is MCU’s chosen one. This basically translates to Robert Downey Jr.’s role in the Infinity Saga. Before I sign off, I just have to warn you I know all of this is very exciting but take this with a grain of salt.
Avengers: Secret Wars will release in theatres near you on May 7th, 2027.
