The newest Marvel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is out and Ryan Coogler has returned to write and direct the sequel. The film stars Letitia Wright, Angela Basset, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta, Danai Gurira, etc. Letitia Wright’s Shuri as you may know, is the real protagonist of the film since Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away. I conjured a lot of hope as I stepped into the theatres to watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, hoping that the film is good. I knew this would hit my breaking point if I saw another mediocre venture from Marvel but Ryan Coogler managed to make this film work. As it happens, the Academy agrees with me as the sequel has been shortlisted in 5 Categories for Oscar nominations.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Leads MCU as the Oscars!
The Academy Awards of Merit announced their pre-nominations today and it looks like despite having a lackluster 2022, Marvel Studios is able to actively participate in the prestigious awards ceremony because of Ryan Coogler’s follow-up to Black Panther, which itself won big at the 2019 Oscars. The sequel wasn’t able to match the number of nods Black Panther had gotten (7), but it has the most number pre-nominations than any MCU film in a while. Without further ado, let’s see in which categories has the film impressed the Academy.
