It would be understating to say that Marvel is struggling since the epic conclusion that was Avengers: Endgame. In fact, the entire superhero landscape barring The Boys is struggling at the moment, be it MCU, DCU, Umbrella Academy or Sony’s Villain-Verse. The genre which dominated the past decade has been the most mediocre and unimpressive one since past 2 years. As for Marvel, granted we do get a few pleasant surprises every now and then but overall its crumbling and is focusing too much on quantity than quality. With over 32 projects lined up in the next 3.5 years, you can be damn well sure that most of them will be either bad or mediocre, just like Phase 4 was. However, one of the productions we all still believe in is the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again and for the fans of Netflix’ Daredevil, we have some incredible news!
Daredevil: Born Again Will Be TV-MA
Hear me and rejoice as Daredevil is not only about to be back but its about to be back the way we liked it! One of the best things that ever came out of Marvel’s bag is Netflix’ Daredevil which is now on Disney Plus. The three seasons of Daredevil are full of character development, dilemmas, intense violence, a dark plot, and incredible performances. Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Vincent D’onfrio (Kingpin), Wilson Bethel (Bullseye), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), and Jon Bernthal put all they had into their characters, giving us some of the best Marvel moments of all time. Unfortunately, we never got to Daredevil Season 4 but it seems like Daredevil: Born Again might pick up things where we left off acting as both a soft reboot and indirect continuation.
One thing is clear; its return has to pay off big time as the only reason this incredible show got cancelled was the merger. So, Marvel really cannot afford to ruin it when it comes back and for now, it seems to be on the right track. It has already been confirmed by No Way Home and She-Hulk that Charlie Cox will reprise the role of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen and Hawkeye confirmed that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin will also return as the co-lead of the series. Moving on, the co-leads will be joined by Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, and Sandrine Holt in major roles. That aside, there is more than 90% probability that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson will reprise their roles as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. Now add to all this, the latest reports that Daredevil: Born Again will indeed be rated TV-MA!
Why is this a good thing you may ask as you won’t be able to watch it with your kids? Well the reason is quite simple. Daredevil was known for its dark and gritty tone which did not quite sync well with the mainstream MCU. The serious, ultra-realistic, and grounded tone of the show is what made Daredevil amazing, and fans were always skeptical about the character rights to going to Disney. But its time to put those doubts aside as DanielRPK has clarified once again that Daredevil: Born Again will be TV-MA, this time on Patreon. This is the second confirmation we have received about the update and this source is highly reliable and has hardly ever been proven wrong. A controversial influencer @GraceRandolph also confirmed that Bob Chapek was cool with a mature rated.
So, yeah after a long time, there has been one great news which has charged up the fan inside me. The only projects I am looking forward to now in this hot overstuffed mess called MCU are Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and Daredevil: Born Again.
