Netflix’s Daredevil has been one of the best TV shows from Marvel, even if the show’s events did not any have impact on the MCU. The thing that baffles me more than anything is the TV shows Marvel is churning out now, even if they’re part of the MCU are nothing in comparison to Daredevil. Charlie Cox as Daredevil was one of the best casting Marvel has made. It’s right up there with RDJ as Ironman. As Marvel is expanding they’re bringing a lot of old characters back, including Daredevil for a Disney+ show. I know we all yelled in joy when he appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home in a brief cameo. However, even in that brief cameo he caught a brick with his bare hand in front of Peter and Happy. That is basically giving up his identity. His identity is something that he’d fought sweat and blood in the Netflix series.
So, I’m not sure how Marvel is going forward with his portrayal. I just hope they do justice to the character. However, apart from these concerns there is one saving light that the entire cast from the original show is returning like Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock. At Disney’s D23 Expo, Kevin Feigi invited Charlie Cox for returning for the show and appearing in the upcoming She-Hulk series. In the official trailer for She-Hulk we’d seen that Daredevil is set to appear in a cameo. In the footage, we saw his new Red and Gold suit for the first time. It seems like we were not the only ones who was surprised by this wardrobe change, Daredevil actor Charlie Cox was in shock in too.
Charlie Cox was Shocked by the New Daredevil Suit!
At the After Show Press Event of D23 Expo’s Day 2, Charlie Cox was asked about his impression on the new suit of the fan favorite character by Rotten Tomatoes. Charlie Cox chuckled and told a fun story of him coming across the Daredevil suit for the first time. He later reasoned his reaction with his experience.
Cox said, “So I had to go to LA to have a fitting, and I walk in – I can say this now – I walk in. I knew I wasn’t going to wear it in [Spider-Man: No Way Home], I knew that much, but whilst we were doing Spider-Man we were getting ready to do She-Hulk, and so I got to go to LA to a fitting, and I walk in and the suit is hanging there. But then there’s a drawing on the wall and it has the gold and red.”
“And I was like ‘no way,'” Cox laughed. “It’s funny because when you play the character this long, it’s like you’re emotionally connected to the fans’ response. So you see something like that and it means something to you, because you know what it means – what it’s going to mean,”
“Like, you start to have a sense of how people are going to respond to that. So I saw that, and then they come in with that, and I’m like ‘aw man, this is unreal’.”

Charlie Cox has confirmed that even if the main cast of the Netflix series is returning for Daredevil: Born Again, the new Disney+ series is in fact a reboot and not a continuation of the Netflix saga. As gut wrenching this news is I simply hope Marvel doesn’t screw up Daredevil and let the new Daredevil show be the one Marvel I can actually fall in love with, like the Netflix adaptation. Until now Phase 4 of Marvel has been a series of misfires. I hope Daredevil doesn’t become one of them.
Daredevil: Born Again will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from Spring 2024.
