Deadpool 3 Teaser!

The Super Bowl weekend is finally over. All the trailers or clips that we were supposed to come out… are out. However, despite so many new trailers debuting yesterday, the only one that the entire world wants to talk about is Deadpool 3. Who is surprised? We all expected this. The superhero genre might be dying but Deadpool never will. He’ll always come back. After weeks of anticipation, the tension of waiting has finally been released from all Marvel fans. However, some fans are not happy with the teaser of the film as it barely showed Wolverine, making them deduce that he will only have just a cameo in the film. Well, that’s not true. Why? Let’s find out.

Why Was Wolverine Missing From Deadpool 3’s Teaser?

For starters, Wolverine can’t be in an extended cameo as the official title of Deadpool 3 is Deadpool & Wolverine. A co-titular character is rarely seen in a cameo. However, if Marvel really pulls this off it will be one of the best marketing strategies ever. But knowing Marvel, that’s not the case. Well, this brings back to our first question, why was Wolverine not shown?

It turns out the answer is quite simple. It is a marketing strategy from Marvel. The studio has made sure that the legendary character appears only twice in the entire trailer, one at the 1.20 minute mark and then at the end, what we can call as the money shot. By doing this Marvel has flipped the expectations of the fans.

Before the teaser’s release, everyone was expecting a cameo filled teaser, right from Taylor Swift to the Fantastic Four. However, what we got was extremely opposite. The teaser mostly highlights the meta vibe of the film and nothing more. No major plot points are revealed. They had enough time to show Wolverine. But they didn’t because this makes fans restless. It raises questions which makes the film a talking point thus generating buzz and bizz.

All the behind the scenes have been leaked, so fans have already seen what they want to. This means Marvel doesn’t have anything to surprise them with. Well, this is where the studio played a blind hand, they refused to show you what you expected the most – banter between Wolverine & Deadpool. This also a safe decision as no one will be angry, because if they want to see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine then they can simply check out the bts but Marvel will not show them anything official.

However, the confusion that this move has caused will lead to hysteria. The fact that I am writing this article and you’re reading it is testament that Marvel has won. Despite my problems with the teaser, I love the out of the box marketing strategy. The studio will reserve Wolverine’s big entry in the MCU for the trailer.

They have to make the audiences wait. If they would’ve revealed Wolverine now, no one would give a damn because we know it was coming. However, the fact the fans will wait another 3-4 months for the official trailer to drop makes Wolverine’s appearance even more special and earned. Say what you will but Marvel has hit it out of the park with one simple move.

Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3 from a screenplay he co-wrote with Rhett Rheese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells and Reynolds himself. This accounts Levy’s third collaboration with Reynolds after previously working on Free Guy and The Adam Project. The film’s supporting cast will include returning Deadpool cast Karan Soni as Dopinder, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio.

Deadpool 3 is slated to release on July 26th, 2024 in MCU’s Phase 6.
