ECHO: Marvel Disney Plus Series Suffers A Huge Delay!
Echo is an upcoming Marvel show that will start streaming on Disney from next year. The show will focus on Echo aka Maya Lopez who is the adoptive daughter of the Marvel villain Kingpin. The character made her MCU debut in the Disney+ show Hawkeye that came out last year. The show focused on Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton being a mentor to Kate Bishop and allowing her to take the reigns from her. Bishop will also be a part of or possibly lead the Young Avengers. As Echo appeared in the show who has a direct connection to Kingpin Marvel was not missing out on the opportunity to officially introduce Kingpin in the MCU. You can say that Kingpin was the main villain of the show. However, his adoptive daughter is on the side of his opposition, similar to the comics where she was on the side of Daredevil.
The success of the show paved the way for Maya Lopez played by Alqua Cox to get a spin off series for herself. The official synopsis of the show show given by Disney is, “The origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.” However, while we’re all controlling out excitement about the show and whether we’ll see Daredevil there? The show has received some major bad news.

ECHO is not Coming Out Anytime Soon!

Echo D23 Trailer Leaked, Watch Here + Footage Description

The last we heard about Echo was last month when the show had received some negative updates as the production of the show is not going well. We don’t know what is the exact problem but apparently the show is facing some huge problems in its production. This threatens the show’s release window next year. It seems like the threat is indeed real as Echo is facing a huge delay. Speaking on the newly-released The Writers Panel podcast (via the Cosmic Circus), Echo showrunner Marion Dayre addressed the problems that the show is facing and he even gave us an update on when will Echo start streaming.

This was the conversation between Dayre and podcast host Ben Blacker,

Blacker:  “This [the podcast] comes out in a week or two. When does Echo premiere?”

Dayre: “That will be probably a year from when this comes out.”

Blacker: “Oh, are you kidding?! I thought it was like within months…Geez, I’m sorry.”

Dayre further talked about the state of showrunners in the MCU “It was kind of a crash course, you know, because I came in as a Co EP and then changed… that changed a little bit, and so I didn’t start there at the ground level, but really like shifting and changing a process to work with deadlines. Like, ‘Better Call Saul’ very much uses a brick-by-brick process where we essentially break each episode three times. You do sort of a general overall break, and then we lay out some arcs, and then we go back in and brick by brick.”

Echo writer described the process of working on Echo as, “There just simply was not enough time to do it that way. So it was sort of grabbing things from, like ‘The Act’, which was a limited series on Hulu, which we broke fairly quickly, so taking some of that, you know, laying out some tent poles that we more or less stuck with and shifting them around with the way that we did.”

She concluded with, “So it was really about finding a process in the moment that allowed me to get to some deadlines and, you know, be a little more flexible than I would have been if, you know, if I had my all the time in the world I would have done it a little bit differently.”

So Marvel fans shouldn’t expect Echo to start streaming until at least the final months of 2023. The show can also be further delayed to early 2024. One thing is clear, will are not going to see Echo for a very long time.

Marvel’s Echo is supposed to start streaming Disney+ in 2023.
