Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Dave Bautista Bids Farewell To Drax!

In 2014,  James Gunn introduced a rag tag team of misfits travelling in space who were not at all famous with the general audiences. In fact these characters were not so famous amongst comic book readers as well called the Guardians of the Galaxy. The first two films in the franchise worked very well as it explored the interpersonal relations between all the characters. It had great emotional quotient where we understood all the characters a lot more. After this, the characters’ journeys were continued in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder to some extent. We haven’t had a GOTG movie for over 5 years now, although we did get a Holiday Special just last month and it was the best thing Marvel has come out with in Phase 4.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3  is releasing this year in May and it is the final movie in the Guardians franchise, this means that this is the last time we’ll see most these characters. Notably characters like Rocket Racoon and Drax. Dave Bautista who plays Drax has already bid an emotional farewell to his character.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Dave Bautista Is Glad His Tenure As Drax Is Over!

In a recent featurette with GQ, Dave Bautista opened up about his goodbye to his character Drax from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in the MCU. The WWE legend discussed the idea of his final portrayal of Drax in James Gunn’s final chapter of the Guardians saga. After nine years, six movies, and a holiday special on Disney+, Bautista is bidding farewell to Drax. As difficult and emotional the farewell was Bautista believes that exiting Drax’s role is good, in fact he is relieved that it is over.

Bautista started explaining, “I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy – it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”

Bautista further told GQ his honest reaction when he’d gotten the call that he has finally landed the role of Drax, “I had to pull over because I was crying so hard. Turned right back around and walked into my house shaking to tell my wife I had gotten the role, and we were both standing there freaking out.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will release net year on 5th May 2023. Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is currently available for streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.
