Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the final film in James Gunn’s GOTG trilogy. When the Marvel Cinematic Universe had just started thriving by introducing known superheroes like Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk. However, at that moment James Gunn introduced a rag tag team of misfits travelling in space who were not at all famous with the general audiences. In fact these characters were not so famous amongst comic book readers as well called the Guardians of the Galaxy. This was a huge risk for Marvel as it was a big budget movie with no famous superhero in the middle of affairs. However, the film was a critical and box office success, in fact the first GOTG film is still considered to be one of the best films of the Infinity Saga if not the best.
The sequel to the film may not have been as good as the first but it was an extremely enjoyable adventure that explored the interpersonal relations between all the characters. It had great emotional quotient where we understood all the characters a lot more. The film even changed our perception of some of the characters like Yondu. After this we saw these characters’ journeys continue through Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder to some extent. We didn’t have a GOTG movie for over 5 years now, although we did get a Holiday Special just last month and it was the best thing Marvel has come out with in Phase 4. The third Guardians of the Galaxy film is releasing next year and the trailer for the same was unveiled at Disney’s D23 Expo but it didn’t release online.
However, at the Brazil Comic Con the trailer was showcased once again but this Marvel did release it online. Watch it below.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Trailer Introduces Adam Warlock and High Evolutionary!
The trailer for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn’t reveal anything about the plot but it tries to create an emotional experience for all the characters as it is definitely preparing us for final showdown with all the characters and the trailer suggests that there is a death coming and as well have been guessing it may be Rocket. Honestly, I’m not prepared to see that. James Gunn has mentioned this quite a few times that Rocket is one of the most sad characters in the MCU. The trailer also introduces us Adam Warlock and High Evolutionary.
We had gotten a glimpse at Warlock at the end of Vol. 2 as Ayesha was creating the perfect Sovereign. As we know Vol. 3 is majorly going to focus on Rocket, we got a lot of glimpses of his past where we see the High Evolutionary experimenting on him. Another detail in the trailer was Gamora who has not appeared in the MCU since Endgame. However, she is back in this film and will probably have an emotional arc where Peter will make he fall in love with him again.
The trailer looks gorgeous and I have full faith in James Gunn that he won’t end his beloved trilogy on a mediocre note. He reaffirmed his skills with the Holiday Special where he created one of the most emotionally rich and rewarding experience for multiple characters in under 40 minutes. He is my last hope when it comes to Marvel movies and I’m very excited for the concluding chapter of the Guardians of the Galaxy saga. The two important additions to the cast of the third film is Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will release net year on 5th May 2023. Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is currently available for streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.
